Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: ICU/PCU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Nights, Every Other Weekend Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 2 years in ICU License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: - Minimum 2 years of ICU experience. - Strong skills in critical care. - Ability to titrate drips including sedation, vasopressors, and insulin. Description: Clinician must take and pass dysrhythmia exam within two attempts prior to signing contract. If clinician fails to score 80% in two attempts, a 6-month do not utilize period will be enforced. Candidates may not have worked full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility affiliated with the organization within the past year. Unit is a multi-care unit level of care with combined acuity. The unit consists of 10 beds with varying ratios depending on acuity levels. ICU ratios are 1:2, PCU ratios are 1:4, and MST ratios are 1:5-6. If no nurse aid is available, ratios shift to 1:3 for primary care. Required common diagnoses for the ICU include, but are not limited to: sepsis, suicide attempts, drug or alcohol withdrawal, respiratory issues, pneumonia, COVID-19, and post-operative complications. PCU patients may include those requiring non-titratable infusions for heart rate or blood pressure maintenance. Charge nurse manages 50 inpatient beds including various care levels. Patient care aides are assigned 10-15 patients with RNs providing primary care when necessary. Respiratory therapy support is available including equipment for multiple respiratory needs. Remote monitor technicians provide telemetry support for patients in the unit. Registered nurses are required to perform 12-lead EKGs and monitor cardiac conditions at the bedside. Shifts are structured as 12-hour shifts with weekend and holiday rotations in place. Floating to other units for competency maintenance is required with advance notice. Current dress code allows for varied scrub colors excluding camouflage. Unit and department specific orientation is part of the onboarding process. Charting is done using the Cerner system.
