Summary


The Transportation Maintenance Department Leader manages the company's transportation maintenance department (non-nuclear) which includes over 17 garages located throughout the state of Arizona (e.g., Deer Valley, Four Corners, Buckeye, Ocotillo, Prescott, Yuma, Cottonwood, etc.). This role oversees the repair and maintenance of vehicles and equipment for all non-nuclear sites, the development of transportation maintenance services policies and vehicle maintenance strategies and the disposition of equipment.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business or other job related discipline from an accredited college or university plus eight (8) years of transportation/automotive technology experience.
  • In lieu of bachelors degree, combination of college coursework and/or experience in transportation/automotive technology equaling 12 years.
  • Three (3) years supervisory/management experience.

Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications:

  • Journeyman Mechanic or field experience in the repair of transportation/automotive equipment.
  • Knowledge of accounting practices governing fleet management.
  • Working knowledge of labor agreement.
  • Knowledge of Department of Transportation policies and procedures.

Major Accountabilities

1) Directs state-wide leadership team for maintenance operations and workflow at all corporate transportation maintenance garages. Establishes overall maintenance standards for the department by setting goals and objectives, and priorities and strategies that align with company objectives. Provides solutions to operational challenges. Ensures fleet repairs are in compliance with all regulatory requirements. Ensures department staff maximizes information from the asset management system.

2) Provides leadership to team leaders to ensure cost-effective and responsive transportation maintenance department management. Mentors staff by introducing new practices, productivity improvements and process improvement efforts to achieve continuous improvement objectives. Selects, coaches and provides performance feedback to achieve employee commitment and engagement to corporate and department goals.

3) Oversees parts procurement, parts inventory levels and posting parts to repair orders for all garages.

4) Manages the oversight of Corporate APS fuel sites.

5) Manages garage expenditures, budgets and resources (personnel and materials). Monitors spending and addresses variances.

6) Oversees apprentice training program.
