The Role:
UAT is seeking an exciting ACS/Data Science professor who can engage students in applying their knowledge of data science, machine learning and AI, and statistical analysis to advancing technology projects. UAT's ACS/Data Science professors are responsible for effectively instructing undergraduate students on how to analyze, manage, design, and implement large data sets, using various tools and methods for interacting with and visualizing data in ways that create new understandings and value. Candidates will collaborate with department peers to design, review and maintain the general data science curriculum.

Essential Duties:

• Facilitation of students
• Student feedback and mentorship
• Development and delivery of collegiate learning experiences related to data science
• Development of course materials
• Engagement with the development community

Skills Requirements:
*Note: a combination of the following skills is preferred; not all are required

• Proficiency in Python, R, or Scala for data sciences applications
• Experience with data wrangling tools and libraries (e.g. pandas, NumPy, dplyr)
• Knowledge of machine learning libraries/frameworks (e.g. scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch)
• Hands-on experience with big data platforms (e.g. Hadoop, Spark, Kafka)
• Familiarity with cloud-based data services (e.g. AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
• Strong command of SQL and experience working with relational and NoSQL databases
• Ability to design and interpret experiments and A/B tests
• Experience with visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Plotly
• Solid understanding of data privacy, governance, and ethical AI principles

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and manage large-scale data pipelines derived from real-time and batch sources.
• Integrate and transform data from multiple sources, including performing data cleaning, validation, and feature engineering
• Apply statistical tests, machine learning algorithms, and data mining techniques to identify trends and generate predictive insights
• Develop interactive dashboards and visualizations that effectively communicate key findings and recommendations
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
• Leverage AI and big data frameworks to create scalable analytics solutions
• Interpret data to provide strategic guidance and support data-driven decision-making processes

Educational Requirements:

• Master's degree in computerscienceor relevant field with 18 credit hours in computer science; doctoral degree preferred
• 3+ years of relevant industry experience

Important Notes:

Location Requirements: This is not a remote position; candidates must be willing to work in-person at our campus in Tempe, AZ.

Adjunct Pay: $3,000 for in-person courses; $2,400 for hybrid/online courses

Part-Time Pay: $36,250 - $51,500 dependent on Education and Experience

Full-Time Salary + Benefits: $72,500-$103,000 dependent on Education and Experience.
