Job Description
At Lumifi Cyber, we develop robust, secure systems that power our cybersecurity solutions. We’re seeking a mid-level Backend Developer who will focus on server-side logic using modern JavaScript and TypeScript in a Node.js environment. You’ll be working with PrismaJS for data persistence (PostgreSQL), building APIs and integrations in Next.js (server-side only), and developing microservices to automate various backend functions. You’ll collaborate closely with other developers, ensuring efficient and reliable solutions that reinforce our overall security posture.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain scalable backend systems using modern programming languages, with a preference for JavaScript (ESNext) and TypeScript.
• Design and optimize microservices architecture to support automation and integrations.
• Implement API endpoints, preferably using frameworks such as Next.js (front-end UI work is not required but familiarity is a plus).
• Manage data storage and retrieval, ideally with ORM tools like PrismaJS and databases such as PostgreSQL.
• Write and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for backend features and processes.
• Debug, troubleshoot, and optimize backend systems for performance, reliability, and security.
• Utilize testing frameworks (e.g., Jest) in a test-driven development (TDD) environment to ensure code quality.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to support seamless integration and deployment processes.
• Stay informed of industry best practices and emerging backend technologies to drive continuous improvement.

Required Skills/Abilities

• 2–3 years of experience with backend development in a modern programming environment.
• Strong proficiency in server-side development, ideally using Node.js or similar technologies.
• Experience building and maintaining API-driven services, with a preference for Next.js.
• Hands-on experience with ORM tools and relational databases (e.g., PrismaJS, PostgreSQL).
• Familiarity with microservices architecture and version control systems like Git.
• Comfortable working in a test-driven development environment with tools such as Jest (Mocha/Chai also acceptable).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to tackle complex challenges.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to document and share knowledge.
• Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced, evolving technical landscape.
• Proven ability to problem-solve and think critically in a fast-paced environment.
