Job Title: Mechanical Disassembly & Chemical Quenching Supervisor

Department: Operations / Manufacturing

Reports To: Operations Manager / Manufacturing Manager

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and safety-driven Mechanical Disassembly & Chemical Quenching Supervisor  to lead operations supporting semiconductor equipment refurbishment, teardown, and chemical processing activities outside of the cleanroom environment.

This role oversees technicians performing mechanical disassembly of semiconductor components and systems, as well as chemical quenching, neutralization, and related material handling processes. The Supervisor ensures strict adherence to safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements while maintaining production efficiency and quality standards.

The ideal candidate has strong leadership experience, mechanical aptitude, and a solid understanding of chemical handling, hazardous materials protocols, and industrial safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Operational Oversight

  • Supervise daily activities of mechanical disassembly technicians and chemical processing personnel.
  • Assign work, balance workloads, and ensure production schedules are met.
  • Monitor productivity, quality, and turnaround times for disassembly and quenching operations.
  • Provide coaching, performance feedback, and training to team members.
  • Conduct shift meetings to communicate priorities, safety alerts, and operational updates.

Mechanical Disassembly Operations

  • Oversee safe teardown of semiconductor components, assemblies, and subsystems.
  • Ensure proper identification, segregation, and tracking of parts during disassembly.
  • Enforce adherence to technical documentation, teardown procedures, and equipment handling standards.
  • Coordinate inspection and disposition of components for refurbishment, scrap, or further processing.

Chemical Quenching & Hazardous Materials Handling

  • Supervise chemical quenching, neutralization, and decontamination processes in accordance with established procedures.
  • Ensure safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous chemicals and materials.
  • Monitor chemical bath parameters, neutralization processes, and environmental controls.
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, and local environmental regulations.
  • Ensure Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and hazard communication standards are followed.

Safety & Environmental Compliance

  • Promote a strong safety culture focused on hazard recognition and mitigation.
  • Ensure proper use of PPE, ventilation systems, spill containment measures, and emergency response procedures.
  • Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Maintain documentation for environmental health and safety (EHS) compliance.

Quality & Process Control

  • Ensure accurate documentation, traceability, and proper material disposition.
  • Partner with Quality and Engineering teams to resolve process deviations or nonconformances.
  • Implement standardized work and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and safety.
  • Support audits and regulatory inspections.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Coordinate with Cleanroom Operations, Engineering, Facilities, and EHS teams to ensure smooth workflow between departments.
  • Support Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and process updates affecting teardown or chemical processing.
  • Communicate equipment or facility concerns impacting safety or production.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Chemistry, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical operations, equipment teardown, industrial processing, or semiconductor manufacturing
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience in a production or industrial environment
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems and component handling
  • Experience working with hazardous chemicals and industrial safety standards
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations, hazard communication, and environmental compliance
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in semiconductor equipment refurbishment or service operations
  • Prior experience supervising chemical neutralization, quenching, or decontamination processes
  • Knowledge of waste handling, chemical disposal procedures, and environmental permitting
  • Experience implementing Lean or continuous improvement initiatives
  • HAZWOPER certification or equivalent safety training

Work Environment

This position operates outside of the semiconductor cleanroom  in an industrial processing environment. The role involves exposure to mechanical equipment, hazardous chemicals, and industrial safety risks. Proper PPE, chemical-resistant gear, and adherence to environmental health and safety procedures are mandatory. The role may require standing for extended periods and handling heavy components.

  • Continually wear Safety footwear: Over the ankle safety toe boots, Chemical resistant boots or overshoes, metatarsal protection. 
  • Frequently wear nitrile gloves 
  • The employee must occasionally lift and /or move more than 20 pounds, frequently lift, and/or move up to 30 pounds, and continually lift and/or move up to 30 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and depth perception
  • May push or pull carts with parts up to 20 feet for up to 4 hours per day. 
  • May transfer parts from the cart at a distance of up to 2 feet, weighing a maximum of 30 pounds continuously throughout the day.
