Behavioral Health Technician (BHT)
Located in Prescott Valley, Arizona.
Possibility for reasonable travel accommodations.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for daily supervision and support of clients.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Plans with the Dorm Supervisor and carries out scheduled groups with clients. (Social Responsibility & Open Communication)
2. Maintains oral and written communication with staff, clients, and others as requested. In essence, communication is vital to this position and is viewed as a direct reflection of the YCII.
3. Meets weekly, at the least, with assigned primary clients. Also, helps clients set daily goals and support them through their program. (Growth and change)
4. Responsible for daily documentation of clients and specific reports pertaining to primary clients. (Social Responsibility)
5. Responsible for primary clients’ clinical chart condition. (Social Responsibility)
6. Supervises clients in accordance with MMYTC protocols (Joint Commission, OBHL, and agency requirements). (Nonviolence)
7. With permission, carries out activities: games, sports, projects, etc. with clients in following the schedule. (Social Responsibility)
8. Ensures safety of all clients, staff, visitors, and animals. (Nonviolence)
9. Follows all MMYTC rules and norms, and is supportive of the Mountain Lion Club (MLC). (Social Responsibility)
10. May be needed to transport in MMYTC vehicles. (Social Responsibility)
11. Demonstrates proper methods of cleaning and organizing with the clients. (Social Responsibility)
12. Follows and ensures safety regulations: maintains order, settles disputes, conducts routine head count, checks for safe environment, and prevents the client from harming self and others. (Nonviolence)
13. Keeps records and may complete incident reports (if applicable) (Social Responsibility)
14. Exemplifies appropriate role model through physical appearance, social skills, professional words and acts, sets clear professional boundaries. (Social Responsibility and Emotional Intelligence)
15. Qualified to administer medications to self-medicating clients. (Social Responsibility)
16. Utilizes trained, trauma-informed interventions to challenge unhealthy behaviors to achieve a desired resolution to conflict. (Open Communication)
17. All other duties as assigned by supervisor or relative chain of command
18. Adheres to Mingus policy and practice concerning creation, editing, transmission, storage, and disposition of all Protected Health Information in compliance with HIPAA. (Social Responsibility)
19. Must receive 1 hour or more of clinical oversight every 2-week period

POSITION QUALIFICATION
- Minimum age of 21
- Has a high school diploma or high school equivalency diploma.
- Evidence of freedom from infectious pulmonary tuberculosis
- Ability to obtain a Level 1 Fingerprint clearance card (or have a current valid level 1 fingerprint card).
- Individual judgment, discretion, and decision-making skills.
- Emotionally and physically able to assist in physical escort and/or restraint.
- Must be able to help carry an ill, injured, or incapacitated student.
- Must be physically able to assist in AWOL searches in mountainous terrain.
- Confidentiality and professionalism are essential
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Education: High school Diploma or GED
Experience: Experience in the behavioral health field is preferred.
Other Skills: Must maintain flexibility in a fast-paced changing environment.

Mingus Mountain Youth Treatment Center (MMYTC) is a nonprofit residential behavioral health treatment center serving adolescents with serious emotional, behavioral, and substance use disorders. Located in Arizona, we provide structured, trauma-informed, and clinically sophisticated care for youth who require intensive therapeutic support. MMYTC staff routinely treat vulnerable youth who have survived abuse, neglect and exploitation in their communities, which provides a unique opportunity for staff to provide life-saving care.
