Mill Foreman
Origin Mining Company operates the Mineral Park copper-molybdenum mine in Arizona and is focused on responsible, sustainable resource development. We aim to lead the U.S. copper industry through strong safety practices, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence. Our team is committed to doing things the right way—acting with integrity, supporting our communities, and creating long-term value. With a hands-on, technically driven approach, we are advancing both leach and concentrator operations to produce high-quality copper and molybdenum products. Position Overview:
As a Mill Foreman, you will lead and oversee daily mill operations within a copper/molybdenum processing facility. This role is responsible for coordinating crews, ensuring safe and efficient production, and optimizing milling and flotation processes. You will act as the primary point of leadership on shift—setting direction, resolving operational issues, and ensuring alignment with production targets and safety standards. Success in this role requires strong technical expertise, decisive leadership, and the ability to see the “big picture” while managing day-to-day execution. Job Responsibilities:
• Lead daily shift activities by assigning tasks, organizing crews, and ensuring operational readiness across milling and flotation circuits.
• Supervise and support mill operations including jaw crushers, cone crushers, grinding circuits, flotation, filter presses, and tailings management.
• Promote and enforce a strong safety culture by conducting safety meetings, addressing hazards, and ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and procedures.
• Monitor plant performance and production metrics, making real-time decisions to optimize throughput, recovery, and concentrate quality.
• Troubleshoot operational and equipment issues, coordinating with maintenance teams to minimize downtime and ensure timely repairs.
• Communicate effectively with crew members, listening to concerns, providing direction, and fostering a collaborative team environment.
• Apply critical thinking and sound judgment to resolve challenges while adhering to company policies and operational guidelines.
• Maintain accurate shift reports, production data, and logs using basic MS Office tools and plant systems.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, reliability, and operational excellence.
• Lead by example—demonstrating professionalism, accountability, and strong work ethic on the floor. Qualifications:
• Minimum 10+ years of mining experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership or supervisory role is preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of copper (preferred) or other base metal milling processes, including crushing, grinding, flotation, and tailings systems.
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams, manage conflict, and drive performance.
• Solid understanding of safety practices and a demonstrated commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities in a fast-paced, dynamic setting.
• Effective communication skills, with the ability to engage crews and coordinate across departments.
• Reliable, dependable, and decisive, with the ability to balance operational demands and long-term objectives.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and production reporting tools.
• Physically capable of working in a demanding mining environment. Physical Demands:
To be eligible for this position, an individual must possess the following requirements to perform the essential job functions:
• Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking on uneven surfaces, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion.
• Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in all kinds of weather.
• Able to operate a telephone and mine phone/radio with sufficient voice and hearing to carry on a conversation for the purpose of communicating information.
• Able to hear sufficiently to distinguish various pitches of warning alarms.
• Able to lift up to 25 pounds periodically.
