Position Title: Manager of People and Culture
Reports To: Chief Administrative Officer (CAO)
Position Class: Exempt
Position Purpose: To manage the overarching culture at Local First Arizona, encompassing people, teams, and their support systems, including processes and procedures that impact their success. Develop a healthy journey and appropriate professional development for the wonderfully diverse employees of Local First Arizona.
Position Overview: We are seeking an innovative and passionate people-person to serve in the role of Manager of People and Culture for Local First Arizona. The position is responsible for identifying and providing the necessary resources to increase the probability for success of Local First's team and culture. This includes designing, streamlining, and managing internal processes for professional development, team collaboration, and strategies for work-life balance that align with Local First Arizona's mission and vision, ensuring team development and retention. The ideal person for this role will be people-focused with a strong desire to see others succeed through efficient, effective and trusted communication, planning, and accountability.
Responsibilities include: ? Lead and mentor team members so that they have the tools and resources needed to partner efficiently with each other, their teams and partners.
? Identify and rectify challenges with procedures or irregular compliance to procedures to support team productivity and minimize team grievances.
? Conduct periodic check-ins with all employees across the organization to ensure organizational well-being of employees, mission alignment, and overall culture of the organization.
? Own team retention protocols and processes from recruitment to exit.
? Manage professional development pathways for all employees, including a Senior Manager Academy and other professional development courses.
? Manage the recruitment process and, in coordination with the leadership team, develop ADA and DEI-compliant s, interview questions, and new team member selection.
? Manage the onboarding process for all new hires.
? In coordination with the leadership team, establish guidelines and performance expectations for staff and clearly communicate these through employee performance management protocols.
? Provide informal feedback and periodically evaluate employee performance.
? Evaluate performance and recommend appointments, promotions, disciplinary actions or reassignments and develop work improvement plans, recommending formal personnel actions as necessary.
? Resolve informal complaints and grievances.
? With CAO, resolve formal complaints and grievances.
? Provide advice and counsel to employees related to work and administrative matters.
? Manage the offboarding process for exiting employees, including exit interviews that may glean process improvements for Local First Arizona.
? Ensure organizational compliance with ADA, FMLA, and Arizona employment law.
? Oversee the administration of the Local First Retirement Plan.
? Oversee the annual update of the Employee Handbook.
Essential Skills and Knowledge ? Minimum 5 years experience in HR field
? HR certification highly desirable (SHRM-CP or SCP)
? Coaching certificate preferred
? Experience with mediation, negotiation, and empathetic listening
? DEI training and willingness to do the hard work associated with building trusted spaces
? Complex problem solving skills
? Strong desire to help support others on their journey to success
? Bilingual English-Spanish a plus
