About the Role:
The Ultrasound Technician at Foot and Ankle Clinics of Arizona PLC in Phoenix, AZ plays a critical role in providing high-quality diagnostic imaging services to support patient care and treatment planning. This position involves performing ultrasound examinations with precision and professionalism, ensuring accurate capture of images for radiological assessment. The technician collaborates closely with physicians and healthcare staff to interpret imaging needs and deliver timely results that contribute to effective diagnosis and management of foot and ankle conditions. Maintaining patient comfort and safety during procedures is paramount, requiring excellent interpersonal skills and adherence to medical protocols. Ultimately, the role is essential in enhancing patient outcomes through expert imaging and compassionate care.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Ultrasound Technology program.
- Certification as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or equivalent credential.
- Valid state licensure or certification as required by Arizona regulations.
- Demonstrated experience in performing musculoskeletal ultrasound imaging, preferably related to foot and ankle anatomy.
- Strong knowledge of ultrasound physics, anatomy, and pathology relevant to musculoskeletal imaging.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a podiatry, vascular or orthopedic clinical setting.
- Additional certifications in vascular sonography or related specialties.
- Familiarity with other imaging modalities such as X-Ray, Mammography, or Nuclear Medicine.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and radiology information systems (RIS).
- Strong communication skills and experience in patient care and education.
Responsibilities:
- Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations of lower extremities according to established protocols and physician requests.
- Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functionality for accurate imaging.
- Prepare patients for procedures by explaining the process, positioning them correctly, and addressing any concerns to ensure comfort and cooperation.
- Collaborate with radiologists and physicians to review images and provide preliminary observations when appropriate.
- Maintain detailed and accurate patient records, documenting procedures, findings, and any relevant observations.
- Adhere to all safety and infection control standards to protect patients and staff.
- Assist in scheduling and coordinating patient appointments to optimize clinic workflow.
- Participate in continuing education and training to stay current with advances in ultrasound technology and best practices.
Skills:
The required skills in ultrasound and radiology are applied daily to perform precise imaging that aids in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. Medical imaging expertise ensures the technician can operate complex ultrasound equipment and interpret anatomical structures effectively. Knowledge of X-Ray, nuclear medicine, and radiography complements the technician’s ability to understand comprehensive diagnostic processes and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams. Patient care skills are essential for preparing and comforting patients, ensuring a positive experience during procedures. Additionally, proficiency in mammography and radiologic technology enhances the technician’s versatility and ability to support various diagnostic needs within the clinic.
