Position Summary

Join Phoenix Children’s as a Registered Nurse in the Main Operating Room and be part of a high‑performing surgical team delivering life‑changing care to pediatric patients. This fast‑paced Level I Trauma Center role is ideal for experienced circulating nurses who thrive in the OR and want exposure to a wide range of specialties—from neurosurgery and cardiothoracic to orthopedics and transplants.

Schedule: 6:30 AM – 7 PM (Sat/Sun + alternating Mon/Fri) with an additional incentive of $10 per hour.

Requirements: 1–2 years circulating experience or Periop 101, prior OR experience required, no new grads.

Position Duties

• Complete nursing assessment of patient conditions consistent with age and condition, including physical, psychological, social, developmental, and educational factors, to determine the initial level of compliance with the treatment plan per policy and unit guidelines.
• Continuously evaluate patient responses to care, teaching, and discharge plans; document progress in appropriate charts and share observations with the healthcare team and families to ensure timely communication.
• Contribute to team effort by accomplishing required activities within established parameters to ensure compliance with medication, storage, and documentation standards, regulations, and requirements.
• Provide orientation to the unit, hospital systems, and processes for patients and family members.
• Supervise patient‑care activities of assigned team members, delegate activities appropriately, and provide timely feedback to ensure safety, infection control, therapeutic environment, and team performance.
• Work collaboratively with the patient‑care team and family members to establish and implement a plan of care, participate in rounds and conferences as appropriate.
• Foster a positive learning environment by modeling best practices, providing guidance, training, and support to students and new employees through mentorship and clinical instruction.
• Perform miscellaneous job‑related duties as requested.

Position Qualifications

Education

• Required: Two‑year (ADN) degree in nursing, a four‑year (BSN) degree in nursing, or a diploma nursing degree.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or current enrollment in an RN to BSN program.

Additional Requirements

• Required: Current State of Arizona RN license or an RN license from a compact state with multistate privileges or the ability to obtain licensure in Arizona prior to start date.
• Required: Current BLS certification for Healthcare Provider from the American Heart Association prior to start date.
