Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Estimator – Project Manager to join our sales estimating and project management team. This role focuses on projects involving automated gate systems, overhead doors, and electronic access control solutions .

This hybrid role requires experience in both cost estimation and end-to-end project management . The ideal candidate will have a solid background in site work construction , steel fabrication , motorized systems , and low-voltage integration , with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously from bid to close-out.

Estimation Responsibilities

• Conduct site visits to gather data for accurate cost estimates, with guidance from senior team members.

• Assist in preparing detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.

• Learn to solicit and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors, within and beyond APS disciplines.

• Support the development of competitive proposals and bid packages tailored to project requirements, plans, and specifications.

• Help maintain and update historical cost data and pricing databases.

• Ability to review architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and project documents is a plus.

Project Management Responsibilities

• Plan and manage installation projects from contract award through completion.

• Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, technicians, and suppliers.

• Support the development and management of project schedules, budgets, and resource allocations.

• Assist with project submittals, plans, and required documentation.

• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and APS-specific industry standards.

• Act as a point of contact for clients, addressing concerns and ensuring satisfaction with support from supervisors.

• Participate in site inspections and weekly project status meetings to monitor progress.

• Track and report project updates, changes, and financial performance to supervisors.

Education & Experience

• 3–5 years of experience in estimating and project management, preferably in gate systems, overhead doors, or access control—though strong experience in other trades is also acceptable.

• Solid understanding of construction methods, safety protocols, and integration of electrical or mechanical systems.

• Experience with access control technologies (e.g., keypads, card readers, intercoms, automation systems) is preferred but not required.

• Experience managing subcontracted trades such as concrete, electrical, steel, or fencing.

Skills & Competencies

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint).

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Excellent organizational and time management abilities.

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.

• Experience with estimating software (e.g., BuildingConnected, BidMail, SmartBid) and project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Procore, AutoDesk) is preferred.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• This role is both office- and field-based and requires occasional travel to job sites.

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work outdoors as needed.

• May require climbing ladders, working at heights, and handling tools during site visits.

• Travel to projects across Arizona is expected.
