JOB DESCRIPTION
The Director of Performance Optimization reports to the SVP – Engineering Solutions. The individual will lead and supervise the Performance Engineering team members to deliver best in class performance modeling and advanced data analysis on utility scale PV and BESS Systems. Role will provide process, tools, and training to enable the team to deliver services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and manage the Performance Engineering team, ensuring consistent service delivery and a high-quality customer experience.
- Develop and implement staffing strategies to efficiently meet service demands.
- Oversee timely and accurate reporting in alignment with contractual obligations.
- Manage and monitor contractual performance guarantees, including energy performance, availability, and DC health.
- Analyze plant performance against modeled expectations and identify key variances.
- Develop actionable recommendations to optimize the performance of PV and BESS power plants.
- Deliver exceptional customer experience through expert analysis, clear communication, and proactive support.
- Continuously improve analytical methods, tools, and content to enhance customer value and operational efficiency.
- Support sales and business development by contributing to performance guarantee negotiations and service agreement scopes.
- Lead the onboarding process for new contracts to ensure seamless service delivery from project commencement.
- Travel requirement: approximately 10%.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Physics; Master’s or PhD preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in performance engineering within the energy sector.
- At least 5 years of experience leading technical or engineering teams.
- Proven ability to lead within a matrixed organizational structure.
- Deep understanding of PV technology, solar power systems, power generation, and data acquisition systems.
- Proficiency with PV performance tools such as PVsyst, PlantPredict, or equivalent.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with data analysis tools and programming languages such as SQL, MATLAB, and Python (preferred).
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to align analytics with business needs.
- Demonstrated ability to translate data into actionable insights for strategic decision-making.
