JOB TITLE: Chief Information Officer

DEPARTMENT NAME: Operations

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Information Officer to lead defining and executing the organizations technology vision and strategy. The CIO will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer and lead enterprise-wide digital transformation, modernize core systems, drive automation, and ensure the secure and efficient use of technology to support business growth and operational excellence.

This is a high-impact leadership position that requires strong analytical thinking, deep information and technology experience, and a strong ability to partner cross-functionally within a diverse nationally based organization.

LOCATION Phoenix, AZ

Travel % (if applicable): Up to 35%

This role will be responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies, optimizing supplier performance, negotiating contracts, and ensuring the cost-effective and reliable acquisition of goods and services that support our clinical operationsincluding imaging equipment, maintenance, medical supplies, IT, and facility services and overall organizational supply needs.

This is a high-impact leadership position that requires strong analytical thinking, deep vendor and supply chain knowledge, and the ability to partner cross-functionally with clinical, finance, and operations leaders.

Essential Functions

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define the Technology Transformation & Evolution Strategy including developing and maintaining a future-state IT and digital roadmap aligned with business goals.
  • Lead strategic initiatives such as cloud migration, ERP modernization, and AI adoption across front- and back-office functions.
  • Partner with business leaders to identify opportunities for innovation and digital enablement.
  • Modernize core systems and infrastructure by overseeing the upgrade or replacement of legacy systems with scalable, secure, and cloud-native platforms.
  • Ensure infrastructure is resilient, cost-effective, and aligned with evolving business needs.
  • Promote interoperability and data integration across platforms.
  • Champion the digitization and automation of key business processes in operations, finance, HR, and other key functional areas...
  • Implement self-service portals, workflow automation, and intelligent process automation to improve efficiency and user experience. Collaborate with functional leaders to prioritize and execute automation initiatives.
  • Apply business-case thinking to all IT investments, including in-/out-sourcing decisions and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis.
  • Ensure IT spending is aligned with strategic priorities and delivers measurable value.
  • Maintain a disciplined triage and prioritization process for IT initiatives, avoiding overextension and scope creep.
  • Redesign the IT organizational structure to align with the corporate structure and support a product-oriented, agile delivery model.
  • Recruit and develop top talent in both functional and technical domains.
  • Establish accountability through service-level agreements (SLAs), DevOps metrics, and performance dashboards.
  • Conduct regular cyber risk assessments and implement proactive security enhancements.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory frameworks (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR, SOC 2).
  • Foster a culture of security awareness and resilience across the organization.

Education

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field (Masters preferred).

Experience

  • 10+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, including at least 5 years in a senior executive role.
  • Proven track record of leading digital transformation and enterprise technology modernization.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing multi-million-dollar IT budgets.
  • Deep understanding of cybersecurity, cloud computing, enterprise architecture, and agile methodologies.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience in regulated industries (e.g., healthcare, finance).
  • Familiarity with AI/ML applications in business operations.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into business value.

Skills And Competencies

Technical Skills:

  • Enterprise Architecture & Cloud Platforms: Deep understanding of cloud-native design, hybrid environments, and scalable infrastructure.
  • ERP & Business Systems Modernization: Experience with platforms like SAP, Oracle, Workday, and Salesforce.
  • AI & Automation Technologies: Familiarity with RPA, machine learning, and intelligent workflow tools.
  • Cybersecurity & Risk Management: Knowledge of threat modeling, incident response, and compliance frameworks.
  • Data Strategy & Governance: Expertise in data integration, analytics platforms, and governance models.
  • IT Financial Management: Proficiency in budgeting, cost optimization, and ROI analysis.

  • Strategic Visioning: Ability to align technology strategy with business objectives and communicate a compelling future-state vision.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Skilled in building partnerships across departments to drive enterprise-wide initiatives.
  • Change Leadership: Proven ability to lead organizational change and foster adoption of new technologies.
  • Executive Communication: Strong presentation and storytelling skills to influence C-suite and board-level stakeholders.

  • Track record of implementing scalable solutions that improve operational efficiency and customer experience.
  • Experience in transforming IT service delivery models to support growth and agility.

  • Ability to measure and report progress using KPIs, benchmarks, and business impact metrics..

Certifications (Preferred But Not Required)

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
  • Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
  • Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
  • Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or SAFe Agilist
  • ITIL Foundation Certification
  • TOGAF Certification (for enterprise architecture)
  • Cloud Certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert)

Other Desired Attributes

  • Strong strategic thinking with the ability to balance cost control with service quality.
  • Ability to manage IT risk and build resilience (e.g., in response to vendor disruption or demand spikes).
  • Experience in multi-site operations or rapidly scaling healthcare businesses.
