POSITION PURPOSE

Responsible for identifying and managing potential business risks to the mine site operation, as well as developing equipment maintenance strategies for the Pinto Valley Mine. This reliability professional also plays a key role in leading diverse defect elimination and improvement programs by identifying, scoping, managing and monitoring plans to completion by using innovative and effective engineering approaches. This position works closely with the maintenance, operations, supply chain and assets & engineering teams at Pinto Valley as well as with suppliers, contractors and consultants to monitor performance, reduce risk and improve asset reliability.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Balance of field (30%) and office work (70%). Field work is performed in different areas, equipment and plants at the Pinto Valley Mine Site

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

As an employee of the Capstone Copper Assets & Engineering Department your key responsibilities are aligned with the Capstone Copper Asset Management Framework (AMF) Elements. You will be required to develop a clear understanding of the Capstone Copper AMF Standards relevant to your role and ensure they are applied within your area of responsibility.

The responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to the following:

• Follow safe work procedures and act safely while working in compliance with all MSHA safety guidelines and Pinto Valley Mine policies and procedures
• Participate in proactive activities to reduce the probability and mitigate consequences of potential safety incidents to make Pinto Valley Mine a safe place to work

1. Equipment Maintenance Strategies Development …………………..….……...… (30%)

• Develop, review and maintain the equipment criticality assessment in Pinto Valley ERP
• Lead development and deployment of equipment maintenance strategies through analysis workshops with cross functional teams to optimize maintenance plans, increase equipment reliability and support a strong work identification process
• Analyze performance and optimize equipment maintenance strategies

1. Business Risk Management ……………………………..…..………….….………… (20%)

• Identify, assess and value the impact of threats that will prevent maintenance and operations departments from meeting business objectives
• Validate and rank business threats by using The Capstone Copper Risk Matrix, risk analysis methodologies and approaches
• Lead and prioritize development of mitigation plans to reduce business risks
• Monitor and report actions compliance to mitigate business risks

1. Defect Elimination Process Management ..………….……………………….…..… (10%)

• Develop and maintain the mine site Trigger Actions Response Plan (TARP) to assess maintenance and operational defects and determine necessary actions
• Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) initiatives for big impact events according to mine site TARP
• Lead mine site training and coaching for maintenance and operations personnel regarding application of defect elimination techniques such as RCA and 5WHY
• Centralize compliance monitoring of defect elimination actions and report progress to management to reduce risk of event repetition

1. Improvement Opportunities Identification …………………………..………..…… (10%)

• Review and analyze equipment performance results to identify business opportunities for improvement based on data from downtime, throughput and cost
• Prioritize site wide opportunities based on value and simplicity by using business improvement tools (opportunity radar) to optimize mine site resources

1. Equipment Performance Monitoring .……………...…………………….…..……… (10%)

• Develop and maintain equipment performance graphs, trends and tables of maintenance and operations data from downtime, throughput and cost databases
• Coordinate development and automation of graphs, trends and tables with corporate data mining tools such as Power BI, Pi Process Book, Minestar, etc

• Represent the maintenance and operations functions in expansion projects and equipment acquisitions by reviewing and contributing with feedback regarding maintainability, historical equipment performances, and development of new equipment maintenance strategies before commissioning

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

(Required, Preferred)

REQUIRED

· Bachelor’s degree in engineering or diploma in related field

PREFERRED

· Mechanical, electrical, industrial, materials, mining, chemical, metallurgical degree or diploma

YEARS OF RELEVANT EXPERIENCE:

(Required, Preferred)

REQUIRED

• 3 years in mechanical, electrical, planning, reliability, operations, mining, processing, metallurgy experience in a mining operational facility

PREFERRED

• 5+ years in mechanical, electrical, planning, reliability experience in a mining operational facility

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES (KSA):

TECHNICAL SKILLS

• Understanding of safety protocols and practices in a mining processing plant or open pit mine environment
• Strong understanding of reliability centered maintenance (RCM & FMEA) concepts, the development of equipment maintenance strategies and life cycle asset management
• Strong understanding of the use of defect elimination approaches and techniques such as RCA and 5WHY
• Proficient in maintenance KPI’s and analyzing equipment performance
• Understanding of processes to evaluate business risks and the development and monitoring of action plans
• Understanding of databases, data collection, queries and report development
• Experience with condition monitoring techniques used in a mining operational facility such as vibration analysis, oil analysis, ultrasound, airborne, thermography, health monitoring, etc
• Experience with mining equipment such as crushers, conveyors, ball mills, centrifugal pumps, flotation cells, filter plants, in processing plants or trucks, loaders, excavators, dozers, graders, etc in mobile equipment
• Able to speak, comprehend, and write in English
