Infrastructure Vessel Engineer

Akkodis is seeking an Infrastructure Vessel Engineer for a Contract with a client in Walnut Creek, CA/ Phoenix, AZ(Hybrid). Candidate must have deep hands-on expertise across physical, virtualization, and platform layers, supporting modernization efforts and end‑to‑end vessel infrastructure deployments.

Rate Range: $55/hour to $57/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Infrastructure Vessel Engineer job responsibilities include:

• Architect, deploy, and support shipboard and port infrastructure, including ruggedized servers, networking equipment, and hybrid cloud environments.

• Lead modernization and refresh initiatives across a fleet of 20+ vessels, driving improvements in automation, reliability, and secure ship‑to‑shore connectivity.

• Design and execute shipboard data‑center builds, covering power, cooling, physical security, hardware layout, and environmental considerations.

• Automate provisioning and configuration using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or Puppet to enhance operational efficiency.

• Administer Linux and Windows Server environments while managing DNS, DHCP, IPAM, routing, switching, and firewall architectures.

• Perform system performance tuning, capacity planning, root‑cause analysis, and develop SOPs/runbooks to support ongoing operations.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).

• 5–7+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering with strong exposure to maritime, vessel, navy, or port environments.

• Deep hands-on expertise across physical, virtualization/OS, and platform layers, including HPE/Dell/Cisco servers, Linux/Windows administration, and virtualization technologies.

• Proficiency in scripting (Bash, PowerShell, Python), automation/IaC tools, and supporting ruggedized, shipboard, or port-based infrastructure.

Pay Details: $55.00 to $57.00 per hour
