Psychiatrist - Gilbert CBOC (Gilbert)

Summary

This position is eligible for EDRP - a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet eligibility requirements and submit your EDRP application within four months of your start date. Program approval, award amount (up to $200,000), and the eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending completion of training or licensing requirements may be tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Currently employed VA physicians who met the requirements at their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements.

Basic Requirements:

• United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited, in accordance with VA Policy.
• Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree from an approved school.
• Current unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a US State, Territory, or the District of Columbia.
• Residency Training: Completion of residency training approved by the VA, leading to eligibility for board certification. Note: VA physicians involved in academic training may need to be board certified for faculty status.
• Residency approval: ACGME, AOA, or other programs with at least five years of verified practice in the US.
• Residents enrolled in ACGME/AOA programs are eligible as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs), who must be fully licensed and appointed on an intermittent or fee basis. PRPs are not independent practitioners and will not have privileges, but can perform certain duties under supervision. Surgery residents in gap years may also be appointed as PRPs.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to perform duties physically and mentally, including heavy lifting and carrying (45 lbs and over with assistive devices), reach, walk or stand up to 6 hours, bend repeatedly, and have rapid coordination. Near vision correction and hearing aids permitted.

Duties

• Provide outpatient psychiatric services, including face-to-face and telepsychiatry, and medical care in accordance with privileges and guidelines at the Phoenix VA Health Care System.
