Foreman
Job Description
SUMMARY
The Foreman plans, assigns, schedules, operates equipment, and supervises the work of assigned crew engaged in the construction project. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.- \n
- Learn and follow safety regulations. \n
- Wear required safety equipment including but not limited to hardhats, safety glasses, safety harness, ear plugs, dust masks and gloves. \n
- Can operate equipment, install conduit and able to perform all tasks required as part of the crew. \n
- Read and understand contract documents, such as project plans, to determine construction requirements, plan procedures, and ensure work is within plan/specification requirements. \n
- Supervise one or more crews engaged in the construction, reconstruction, and maintenance of streets, highways, driveways, structures, underground utilities and parking lots. \n
- Supervise installation of street lights, traffic signals, I.T.S., F.M.S, and conductors. \n
- The ability and knowledge to work with low voltage and high voltage electricity. \n
- Skills to place and finish minor concrete pads and foundations. \n
- Assist with closeout documentation for each phase of the job as completed. \n
- Inspect work progress, equipment, and construction sites to verify safety and ensure that specifications are met. \n
- Locate, measure, and mark site locations or placement of structures or equipment. \n
- Coordinate work activities with other construction project activities. \n
- Maintain daily paperwork such as timecards, field reports, schedule updates and E-mail correspondence to keep the various people involved with the project informed of important issues. \n
- Promote and maintain a culture that values safety, health and cleanliness. \n
- Attend and participate in job site meetings to include weekly Toolbox Meeting with crew. \n
- Assist the project team in building written work plans, job hazard analysis, and daily task reminders. \n
- Estimate and coordinate material, equipment, and worker requirements to complete jobs; schedule and assign work accordingly to ensure production aligns with project goals. \n
- Requisition materials and equipment. \n
- Coordinate activities with managerial or technical personnel, other departments, or contractors to resolve obstacles. \n
- Analyze worker or production problems and recommend solutions, such as improving production methods or implementing motivational plans; discipline and document worker issues. \n
- Instruct and train employees in construction methods, safe operation of equipment, tools and job techniques, safety procedures, and company policies. \n
- Maintain equipment in a high state of readiness through daily and proactive maintenance. \n
- Suggest or initiate personnel actions, such as promotions, transfers, hires, disciplinary actions, performance evaluations, and documentation. \n
- Other related duties as required or assigned. \n
- IMSA Level I or Level II (Preferred). \n
- CDL Class A or B Preferred. \n
- ATSSA certified preferred or willing to get certified. \n

QUALIFICATIONS The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience Requires a general educational knowledge normally acquired through a high school diploma or a General Equivalency Diploma (GED); 5+ years in heavy civil and related functions plus thorough knowledge of civil construction industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience considered. Read and review schedules for accuracy and planning. Operate basic software for time cards and emails. High energy level and the ability to inspire and motivate a team. Understands and abides by all government processes and regulations. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to type, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and sit. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Benefits at OMNI Electric:
