THIS IS A GRANT-FUNDED POSITION ENDING NOVEMBER 2027.
This is an in-office position located in Tucson, AZ, and cannot be remote. The Health Department is unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position.

As the Applications Systems Administrator - REDCap (Research Electronic Data Capture), you’ll lead meaningful programs, strengthen community partnerships, and help drive data‑informed decisions that improve the health and well-being of everyone, everywhere, every day.
Essential Functions:
As defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, this classification may include any of the following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics. Analyzes, documents, supports, tests and maintains computer application systems for Pima County departments and elected officials;
Utilizes advanced subject matter expertise and advanced system knowledge to provide support to end users of computer applications systems in Pima County departments and elected officials;
Provides general support for personal computers, Wi-Fi, Audio/visual systems and telephones, and acts as a point of escalation to technical teams (e.g., ITD) for issues than cannot be remediated onsite;
Performs complex troubleshooting involving multiple systems and/or computer infrastructure services and serves as liaison to technical teams (e.g., ITD) for communicating issues, ordering equipment and troubleshooting problems;
Analyzes department workflows and processes and provides recommendations as to how systems can aid efficiency or effectiveness of department operations;
Maintains a knowledgebase of workflows, operational capabilities, system capabilities and training needs and materials in support of departmental operations;
Performs database queries, data mining, report generation and/or visualizations using departmental data, including cross-departmental collaborative efforts, as required;
Provides content management of department or elected official websites;
May lead teams or direct the activities of junior staff in a non-supervisory role;
Responsible for other duties as assigned in support of the overall goals and functions of both the Department and Pima County.
Minimum Qualifications:
Four (4) years of experience in computer application system support, business process analysis or computer hardware, software or database development, maintenance, or testing.
(Relevant education from an accredited college or university may be substituted.)
OR:
Two years of experience in a Pima County Applications Systems Technician or related classification as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment.

Preferred Qualifications : (Be specific in describing your experience in your application. Ensure the descriptions provided illustrate your competencies, specifically addressing the required and preferred qualifications.):
Master’s degree in public health, Informatics, IT or related field.
Minimum three (3) years of REDCap experience in a public health, research or university setting.
Experience providing REDCap training to staff members.
Experience with/knowledge of REDCap including complex logic design, automated workflows, and data architecture management such as longitudinal and repeating instruments, data access groups, and external integrations.
Selection Procedure:
Pima County Human Resources Department reserves the right to admit to the selection process only those candidates that meet the minimum qualifications. All applications will be assessed based on an evaluation of the listed education and experience. Candidates meeting the minimum qualifications may be further evaluated/scored against any advertised Preferred Qualifications. The hiring authority will interview and select the successful candidate from a referral list provided by Human Resources. Additional assessments/testing may be required as part of the selection process.
Supplemental Information:
Licenses and Certificates : Valid driver license is required at time of application. Valid AZ driver license is required at time of appointment. The successful applicant will be subject to a 39-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review to determine applicant’s suitability to operate county vehicles in accordance with Pima County administrative procedures. Failure to obtain and maintain the required licenses and certifications shall be grounds for termination. Any offer of employment resulting from this recruitment is contingent upon Fleet Services’ review and approval of the candidate’s driving record.
Special Notice Items : The County requires pre-employment background checks. Successful candidates will receive a post-offer, pre-employment background screening to include verification of work history, education, and criminal conviction history. A prior criminal conviction will not automatically disqualify a candidate from employment with the County. Some positions may require completion of a satisfactory personal background investigation by the court or law enforcement agencies, due to the need for access to County Attorney and Court facilities, records, and communication systems. The Health Department is unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position. This position will require post-job offer proof of immunization(s) or immunization(s) and/or a TB screening.
Physical/Sensory Requirements: Repetitive wrist, hand and/or finger movement. Ability to communicate clearly (verbal, written). Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. The person in this position occasionally needs to move about inside the office to access filing cabinets, office machinery, etc.
Working Conditions : Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.
