THE POSITION: Canyon State Electric is seeking a skilled and motivated Electrical Estimator with 2-5 years of experience to join our growing estimating department. Reporting to the Director of Estimating, this role supports the preparation of accurate, competitive, and timely estimates for commercial electrical projects. The ideal candidate has hands‑on estimating experience, strong attention to detail, and the desire to continue developing technical and professional skills within a collaborative team environment. This position offers opportunities for growth, mentorship, and increasing responsibility as skills advance.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare detailed electrical estimates with moderate independence, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
- Review drawings, specifications, addenda, and other project documents to determine scope, materials, and labor needs.
- Assist in developing conceptual estimates with guidance from senior estimators.
- Evaluate project changes and support pricing efforts for value engineering options.
- Utilize estimating software platforms such as Connest or similar estimating tools.
- Contribute to the preparation of bid proposals, ensuring they are complete and aligned with company standards.
- Follow up on bids, maintain bid logs, and track project outcomes.
- Request and compare vendor/supplier quotes to ensure competitive pricing.
- Collaborate with field operations to help provide pricing for change orders and support project handoff processes.
- Assist in maintaining and organizing historical cost data and updating internal estimating databases.
- Participate in ongoing improvements to estimating workflows, documentation, and processes.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2-5 years of experience in electrical estimating or a combination of electrical field experience and estimating exposure.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline is a plus.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, plans, specifications, and construction terminology.
- Experience using estimating software; Connest experience preferred but not required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Experience with Bluebeam or similar tools is beneficial.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify scope gaps or discrepancies.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
- Ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously while maintaining organization and accuracy.
- Eagerness to grow professionally, take on increasing responsibility, and contribute to team success.
Pay Ranges: $85,000 - $100,000 per Year
