The anticipated salary range for this role is between $104,000.00 and $170,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualification, experiences, and analysis of current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC MANUBANK offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

SUMMARY:
Imagine helping to build and design an entire Digital Business Unit for Online Banking. We’re hiring a Software Engineer to join our Middleware/API team, responsible for developing customer-facing Omni Channel Services using Java and Kotlin. You’ll work in an agile environment alongside product owners, designers, and QA to design, build, and maintain a modern digital bank.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
- Develop scalable, high-performance application features using modern design patterns
- Write clean code, unit tests, and participate in code reviews
- Own deployments and contribute to DevOps workflows
- Collaborate with product managers to prioritize sprint features and technical improvements
- Manage workload independently and contribute effectively in team settings
- Rapidly prototype and iterate on proof-of-concepts
- Promote best practices and adopt emerging standards
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- 2+ years of experience with Java and functional programming
- Familiarity with Kotlin and GraphQL preferred
- Minimum 1 year of experience with cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure or similar)
- Strong experience designing and supporting RESTful APIs
- Solid understanding of data structures and design patterns
- Experience with CI/CD tools and DevOps practices
- Agile development experience with a focus on customer-facing applications
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across disciplines
- Financial services experience is a plus
