Sr. Account Manager - BAS / HVAC Controls
Location: Phoenix, AZ
Pay: $90K Base + Uncapped Commission (Realistic First-Year OTE: $150K-$200K+, Top Performers $300K+)

One of our clients is a well-established commercial HVAC, Building Automation, and energy services contractor that's continuing to invest heavily in its BAS division. They're looking for a Building Automation Project Sales Representative to manage and grow an established portfolio of commercial accounts while helping customers identify retrofit, upgrade, and energy-saving opportunities.
Unlike many sales roles, the majority of your opportunities will come from an existing customer base rather than cold prospecting. This is a highly consultative position where you'll serve as a trusted advisor, helping clients develop long-term building strategies while earning exceptional commission along the way.
What You Will Do:
Manage an established portfolio of accounts by building long-term relationships with commercial customers and identifying opportunities for controls upgrades, retrofits, and energy improvements.
Develop trusted executive relationships with building owners, facility managers, property managers, school districts, healthcare organizations, and other commercial end users.
Lead consultative sales conversations focused on improving building performance, reducing operating costs, and achieving customer energy efficiency goals.
Identify retrofit and upgrade opportunities by understanding customer facilities, existing building systems, and long-term operational objectives.
Present business-focused solutions by translating complex HVAC and Building Automation concepts into clear financial and operational value.
Own the customer relationship throughout the sales process, from opportunity identification through proposal development, contract negotiations, and project turnover.
Develop account strategies through regular customer meetings, networking, facility reviews, and ongoing relationship management.
Collaborate with operations and technical teams to ensure projects are delivered successfully and customers receive an outstanding experience.
Manage forecasts and sales activity while maintaining a healthy pipeline and delivering consistent revenue growth.
What We're Looking For:
5-7+ years of Building Automation industry experience with multiple years in a consultative sales role.
Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC controls including open protocol Building Automation Systems and major manufacturers such as Niagara, Honeywell, Johnson Controls, Distech, Siemens, Schneider Electric, or similar platforms.
Experience selling directly to commercial end users such as building owners, facility managers, property managers, healthcare systems, schools, universities, or industrial facilities.
Consultative selling skills with the ability to uncover customer needs, discuss ROI, and develop long-term client relationships.
Technical understanding of BAS systems including controls, networking, BACnet, Modbus, and commercial HVAC operations.
Field experience as a Controls Technician, Systems Integrator, Applications Engineer, or similar role is highly valued and can be an excellent foundation for sales success.
Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage both technical and executive-level decision makers.
Self-motivated and relationship-driven mindset with strong organizational and time management skills.
What This Role Offers:
An established customer base where approximately 75% of your opportunities come from existing accounts , allowing you to focus on relationship-building instead of constant cold calling.
Exceptional earning potential with a $90K base salary , uncapped commission , $700/month car allowance , realistic first-year earnings of $150K-$200K , and experienced sales representatives earning $300K+ annually .
