Technical Services Technician I - Position Summary

Provide expert technical design assistance to customers, ensuring optimal solutions and support for their projects.

Technical Services Technician I - Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Technical Support:
    • Identify the best product solutions for projects.
    • Advise on installation recommendations and procedures.
    • Provide hydraulic information and advice.
    • Assist in solving on-site problems
  • Database Management:
    • Maintain the Technical Services Information database (Dynamics).
    • Identify areas for improvement and discuss with the Technical Services Manager.
  • Design Services:
    • Provide layout drawings, bill of materials lists, and shop drawings for individual projects.
  • Project Coordination:
    • Gather, verify, and communicate project information to the appropriate personnel.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work closely with Inside Sales Representatives and Area Sales Managers to ensure customer satisfaction and resolve issues.
  • Customer Feedback:
    • Elicit feedback from customers to guide future product and service direction.
  • Compliance:
    • Follow all company policies and procedures.

Technical Services Technician I - Core Competencies

Technical Services Technician I - Education and Experience

  • Educational Background: Associate degree in civil or mechanical engineering technology (Civil preferred) or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Professional Experience:
    • Minimum of two years of related experience.
    • Minimum of two years' experience interpreting product designs and layouts, with knowledge of AutoCAD or similar systems.

Technical Services Technician I - Essential Skills and Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate proficiency in each essential duty. The following qualifications represent the level of knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

  • Document Interpretation: Ability to read and interpret civil engineering construction documents is paramount.
  • Comprehension: Capacity to read and understand simple instructions, short correspondences, and memos.
  • Technical Writing: Competence in writing technical correspondence.
  • Presentation Skills: Aptitude for effectively presenting information in one-on-one and small group settings to customers, clients, and colleagues.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to apply common sense understanding to follow instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Software Proficiency:
    • Skilled in using AutoCAD 2021 or higher.
    • Proficient in Adobe Acrobat Pro.
    • Competent in MS Office Products.
  • Technical Analysis: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general technical or governmental procedures.

Technical Services Technician I - Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Mobility: Occasionally required to stand or walk.
  • Seated Work: Primarily required to sit and work on a computer for extended periods.
  • Dexterity: Consistently required to utilize hand and finger dexterity.
  • Communication: Frequently required to talk or hear.
  • Lifting: Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
