AZ Senior Project Coordinator

Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever (PF/QF) are seeking a dynamic, self-motivated conservation professional to serve as a Project Coordinator to lead implementation of a 5-year Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP) award in Arizona. This position will coordinate and deliver landscape-scale habitat restoration projects in collaboration with landowners, agricultural producers, conservation partners, and agency stakeholders. The primary focus will be supporting ranchers and landowners to implement brush management, range improvements, and wildlife habitat restoration that align with priority conservation areas and goals. This position will also be responsible for ensuring communication coordination occurs with existing partners and will work to form relationships with new partners. Additionally, this position will work with PF internally and with partners externally to conduct outreach, inform the public about the RCPP, and promote the work of the partners in this partnership. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the Arizona RCPP partnership and oversee daily program operations.
- Work directly with private landowners and ranchers to identify eligible conservation opportunities and provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate project ranking, selection, and prioritization in collaboration with PF/QF, the Arizona Game and Fish Department (AGFD), Arizona Association of Conservation Districts (AACD), AZ-DFFM, USDA-NRCS, BLM, and USFS.
- Assist landowners and delivery partners with conservation planning, eligibility verification (in coordination with NRCS), and contractor engagement.
- Manage project tracking from proposal to completion including:
- Budget tracking and forecasting
- Project contracting
- Implementation monitoring
- Invoicing and grant reporting
- Work with PF/QF Grants and Accounting teams to write, manage, and monitor sub-awards, agreements, contracts and payments.
- Monitor field implementation of practices (e.g., brush management, fencing, water improvements) and conduct site inspections.
- Maintain accurate records for internal tracking and federal NRCS grant reporting.
- Ensure that funded projects align with RCPP goals, benefit target wildlife species, and occur in priority geographies.
- Represent PF/QF in multi-partner planning meetings and conservation workgroups across the region.
- Provide outreach, education, and technical support to cooperators and community partners.
- Maintain professional relationships with NRCS field offices, state and federal agencies, NGOs, and conservation districts.
- Mentor, guide, and train private lands biologists working in the focal areas on how to develop projects that support the goals and objectives of the RCPP.
- Work with contractors to develop strategies to expand their operations to effectively implement any contracted habitat restoration work.
- Seek additional funding opportunities including future RCPP opportunities.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in natural resources, rangeland management, wildlife biology, ecology, or a related field.
- At least 7 years of experience in conservation project management, rangeland/wildlife restoration, or agricultural technical assistance.
- Strong understanding of western rangeland ecosystems and brush management practices.
- Experience working with private landowners and agricultural producers.
- Familiarity with NRCS programs (especially RCPP), conservation planning, and eligibility requirements.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage budgets, timelines, and field implementation across multiple concurrent projects.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate with diverse partners and stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently in remote/rural field environments and travel frequently across Arizona.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, GIS software, and digital reporting tools.
- Valid driver’s license required; use of personal vehicle required with a mileage reimbursement and vehicle stipend provided. Current rate is $.67 per mile with periodic adjustments relative to the IRS rate. Expect to drive 6,000 to 10,000 miles annually.
- Experience writing and administering grants
- Experience administering federal or state grants or conservation cost-share programs.
- Familiarity with Arizona’s conservation priorities and regional land use dynamics.
- Demonstrated success working in multi-agency, partner-driven conservation efforts.
