Where You Will Work

Our Miami smelter and rod plant is nestled just 90 miles east of Phoenix. The smelter processes copper concentrate primarily from our company’s Arizona copper mines and is the most significant source of sulfuric acid for our North American leaching operations.   Arizona ’ s Globe-Miami   historic mining district offers natural beauty and a rich mining heritage. What You Will Do

• Perform routine and non-routine chemical and/or metallurgical analytical tasks at assigned site.
• May collect samples which could include collection from rail cars or trucks in some locations
• Prepare samples for analysis using established tests and techniques.
• Assists with/performs routine chemical and/or metallurgical analysis and reporting.
• Maintain laboratory instrumentation and equipment
• Perform other duties as required

What You Bring To Freeport

• Demonstrated knowledge of math, chemistry and/or computer skills appropriate to the assignment
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
• Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions

Preferred Qualifications

• Associates related degree
• This position requires sampling in plant and preparing concentrate material (concentrate metal ore).
• Requires long periods of standing while wearing full body coveralls and head gear with a full face filter mask, in areas which are exposed to elements (near freezing in winter, 100F/38C in Summer).
• Position also requires working near heavy equipment while performing sampling (near cranes, tranes, and heavy haulage trucks).
• Candidate must be comfortable performing addition subtraction in head. Requires reviewing numbers being entered into system and verifying that they make sense. Moisture content, sample weights.

What We Offer You 

The estimated pay range for this role is currently $20.24 - $30.48/hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
