Purchasing Expeditor

Sonepar
Mesa, AZ

Founded in Denver in 1987, QED aims to provide high-quality electrical products and services to the industry. QED employs over 500 associates across 18 branches within Arizona and Colorado to serve commercial and residential contractors, industrial facilities, and OEM businesses.

At QED, we embrace what makes us unique. As a company with local roots and global reach, we excel at the diversity of our Associates and the different ways each of us contributes to our success. What keeps us at the forefront of progress? OUR PEOPLE. No matter where they work or who they are, we trust their individual skills and qualities and give them everything they need to reach their full potential.

The Purchasing Expeditor supports QED’s Purchasing Department by managing daily open purchase order follow-up, vendor acknowledgments, delivery confirmations, and expedited material needs across QED branch and CDC operations. This role works closely with Purchasing Agents, QED Sales, branch teams, warehouse and receiving personnel, partner vendors, and Sonepar support teams to help ensure customer commitments are met and material arrives accurately and on time. The position supports QED’s commitment to quality, operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and value-added electrical distribution services as part of the Sonepar organization.

Key Accountabilities

  • Review open purchase orders daily and prioritize overdue orders, vendor-confirmed deliveries, and orders expected within the next three business days.
  • Follow up with QED partner vendors on acknowledgments, ship dates, tracking information, backorders, freight status, proof of delivery, and overdue material.
  • Expedite critical, late, or customer-impacting orders to support QED branch operations, customer commitments, CDC replenishment, and inventory availability.
  • Update purchase orders in Solar Eclipse with accurate estimated ship dates, delivery dates, vendor confirmations, tracking details, notes, and order status changes.
  • Communicate timely order status updates to Purchasing Agents, QED Sales, branch associates, CDC teams, warehouse personnel, receiving teams, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor backorder and overdue purchase order reports and take timely action to reduce delays, improve service levels, and protect customer expectations.
  • Support inventory availability by identifying potential shortages, escalating supply concerns, and helping prioritize material needed for customer orders, branch stock, transfers, or CDC replenishment.
  • Provide professional, responsive support to internal customers while demonstrating urgency, follow-through, collaboration, curiosity, and a continuous-improvement mindset.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelors degree preferred
  • 1+ year of experience in purchasing, expediting, customer service, warehouse operations, supply chain, or electrical distribution preferred.
  • Experience working with purchase orders, vendor follow-up, receiving, inventory, order tracking, branch support, or customer-facing distribution workflows strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Solar Eclipse or another ERP/inventory management system preferred.
  • Electrical product or wholesale distribution experience is a plus, especially within a multi-branch operating company environment.
