Overview:Basic Function
The Laundry Attendant is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and availability of all hotel linens, towels, and other laundry items. This position plays a key role in maintaining the hotel's high standards of hygiene and guest satisfaction by operating laundry machinery, sorting, washing, drying, folding, and storing laundry efficiently and accurately.
Essential Functions
Sort, wash, dry, fold, and properly organize all linens, towels, uniforms, and other laundry items.
Operate commercial washers, dryers, and other laundry equipment safely and efficiently.
Inspect linens and uniforms for stains, tears, or damage; treat or report issues as needed.
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary laundry area in compliance with health and safety regulations.
Monitor inventory of laundry supplies and promptly report low stock or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor or manager.
Follow all hotel policies, safety procedures, and sanitation guidelines.
Support housekeeping operations by assisting with linen deliveries and fulfilling requests.
Perform laundry duties for guest rooms, including the washing, drying, and folding of all linens and towels.
Report any laundry equipment issues or safety concerns to the supervisor/manager.
Collaborate with housekeeping staff and assist with job assignments as needed.
Ensure common areas and laundry facilities are neat, clean, and well-maintained at all times.
Understand and follow proper usage of chemicals and equipment, adhering to all safety protocols.
Comply with all hotel policies outlined in the Associate Guide and report any observed violations to Human Resources.
Assist housepersons and room attendants to ensure smooth operation of daily housekeeping tasks.
Promote and maintain a safe and supportive work environment.
Maintain a friendly, positive, and team-oriented attitude at all times.
Uphold the highest standards of professionalism and guest/employee relations.
- Strong understanding of laundry chemicals, their appropriate formulas, and their effects on various fabric types.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to read, write, speak, and understand English clearly for accurate documentation and instructions.
- Ability to stand, walk and/or sit and continuously perform essential job functions for duration of shift.
- Perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling, and walking significant distances between and within buildings on the property.
- Sufficient manual dexterity in hands.
Manual dexterity to handle laundry and operate machinery efficiently.
Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions in English.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous experience in laundry or housekeeping within a hotel or similar environment is a plus.
Skilled in safely and effectively operating commercial laundry equipment.
Excellent attention to detail and time management abilities.
Physically able to lift up to 75 lbs and perform duties for extended periods.
Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays, as required.
