About This Role:Join our veterinary hospital as a Veterinary Assistant and become an integral part of our animal healthcare team! In this hands-on role, you'll work alongside our veterinarians and technicians to provide compassionate care for our patients while gaining valuable experience in veterinary medicine.
As a Veterinary Assistant, you'll be involved in all aspects of patient care—from assisting with examinations and treatments to monitoring hospitalized pets and educating clients. What Success Looks Like:- Compassionate Care Provider: You'll handle and restrain animals with confidence and gentleness, ensuring their comfort during examinations and procedures while providing reassurance to pets experiencing stress or illness.
- Medical Support Expert: You'll assist our veterinary team with treatments, diagnostics, and surgeries, preparing equipment, monitoring patients, and maintaining accurate records of care provided.
- Hospital Caretaker: You'll maintain the cleanliness and organization of our hospital, ensuring a safe, sanitary environment for our patients, clients, and team members.
- Communication Liaison: You'll relay important patient updates to veterinarians and fellow team members, helping maintain continuity of care and ensuring all staff are well-informed about patients' status.
- Client Educator: Under veterinarian guidance, you'll communicate with pet owners about their animals' care, medications, and home treatment plans, providing clear instructions with empathy and professionalism.
- Licensed Veterinary Technician with current state certification
- Exceptional animal handling skills with the ability to work safely with pets of all temperaments
- Strong knowledge of veterinary medical procedures, laboratory techniques, and pharmaceutical calculations
- Experience with anesthesia monitoring, dental cleanings, and radiography
- Excellent communication skills with both team members and clients
- Detail-oriented approach to patient care and medical record-keeping
- Ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and assist with lifting patients
- Genuine compassion for animals and commitment to quality care
- Adaptability and willingness to assist in various hospital areas as needed
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of experience in veterinary environment, including intern assignment position
- Experience with anesthesia monitoring and assisting in surgical procedures including dentals preferred
- Associate degree in veterinary technology or continuing education in veterinary science a plus
- Competitive Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour, commensurate with experience
