Who we are

Powell designs and builds advanced switchgear and electrical equipment. Our Service Division supports customers with both remote technical expertise and hands-on solutions.

The role at a glance

• Provide remote troubleshooting support and perform bench-level diagnostics, repair, and testing for medium-voltage electrical distribution equipment.
• Build, refurbish, rebuild, repair, and test circuit breakers, contactors, grounding devices, and related equipment.
• Incorporate the latest design enhancements to improve mechanical and dielectric performance on legacy units.
• Test to IEEE/ANSI requirements and Powell Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) standards.
• Upgrade customer equipment—adjust control voltages, increase continuous current ratings, and add undervoltage and second-trip devices.
• Interpret Powell schematics and wiring diagrams; locate, retrieve, and print drawings from the Powell database.
• Maintain a clean, safe workspace and collaborate with internal and external customers to troubleshoot field orders.

Team and reporting

• Reports to: Breaker Department Manager
• Regular collaboration with: Project Management, Sales, and Quality Assurance

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum 4 years in a similar position.

Skills and tools

• Electrical fundamentals, safety practices, and applied theory.
• Software: Oracle, Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Test equipment: Hi-Potential set, insulation resistance tester, multimeter, dial calipers.
• Mechanical aptitude and proficiency with common hand tools.
• Strong written and verbal communication; problem-solving strength preferred.
