Assessment Specialist I

Summary
Under general supervision, perform clerical and technical work of routine difficulty in data entry, operation of the computer and/or scheduling of computer operations, and performs related duties as assigned.

- Communicates with any stakeholder on assessment information and procedures
- Assists in establishing and maintaining documentation of procedures and practices
- Performs statistical analysis and reporting as required
- Assist other departments and staff as required
- Answers phones and performs required follow up
- Organizes all workload and documents in accordance with office policies and procedures
- Meets all required deadlines
- Abilities to assist vendors as needed
- Assist with training of staff members
- Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with Navajo County staff, the public and other agencies
- Processes and verifies property information
- Preforms data entry on received information
- Provides information, forms, and files
- Assists in the preparation of assessment information
- Direct Public in the research of property and with issues concerning ownership changes.
- Performs Research and Analysis of information when required
- Responds to public questions and requests for information
- Utilizes technology to locate escaped properties
- Performs the input of property details
Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge of principles, and procedures used in property assessment/appraisal.
- Knowledge of guidelines and statutes affecting property assessment.
- Knowledge of office practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of database software and specialized computer software
- Knowledge of various deeds and their functions.
- Skill in operating common office equipment including computers and associated office software.
- Skill in rapidly calculating and verifying mathematical computations.
- Skill in effectively communicating verbally and in writing.
- Skill in Utilizing software to retrieve data to ensure quality of job responsibilities
Desirable Qualifications
High School diploma or GED; and one-year experience in data entry, computer operations or other relevant clerical support experience; prior experience in a government setting preferred; a valid AZ driver's license.
