Laborer
Responsibilities:
- Consistently demonstrate and promote a high safety standard and safe working environment.
- Ensure plant equipment complies with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures and Company Policies.
- Conduct workplace exams and job hazard analysis/risk assessment.
- Identify and report any process-related issues, adverse conditions, hazards, and/or concerns to the Production Shift Supervisor.
- Perform routine plant clean-up of various process lines, towers, tunnels, material transport systems, etc., using tools such as shovels, brooms, rakes, and vacuum trucks.
- Operate mobile equipment as directed by the Production Shift Supervisor.
- Perform minor maintenance on tools and equipment.
- Always wear appropriate PPE specific to the task.
- Support safe and productive plant operations.
- Must communicate effectively on the radio system.
- Report to the Production Shift Supervisor.
- Participate in Environmental, Health, and Safety audits/inspections.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Prior experience in cement or heavy industrial manufacturing is preferred.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must possess strong communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Good critical thinking skills with the ability to observe and assess situations and anticipate issues before they occur.
- Must understand and follow all Standard Operating Procedures.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate verbally in English.
Physical Demands:
- Lifting - Raising or lowering an object from one level to another (includes upward pulling). Up to 50 1bs.
- Carrying - Transporting an object, usually in the hands or arms or on the shoulder. Up to 50 1bs.
- Ladders and Stairs, Heavy.
