ABOUT Hermosa

Hermosa, located approximately 75 miles south-east of Tucson, Arizona, is the only advanced mining project in the United States as of 2023 that could produce two federally designated critical minerals—manganese and zinc—as well as silver and lead. The project has the potential to help power the nation’s clean energy future, strengthen the domestic supply chain of critical minerals, grow the local economy, and improve lives in Santa Cruz County and the surrounding community for generations to come.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Principal, Tax will manage tax compliance activities and provide tax advisory for our North American entities; execute tax planning projects, implement and maintain tax technology tools while optimizing our tax processes, ensuring compliance with tax regulations, and leveraging technology to enhance tax reporting and planning. This is a hybrid role based in Tucson, Arizona.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

• Tax compliance
  • Manage the preparation of all income, property and indirect tax returns for US and Canada
  • Ensure the timely filing of all returns and payment of all taxes
  • Assist with tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities
  • Review tax provisions and financial statements for tax-related disclosures
• Tax advisory
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to provide guidance on tax matters
  • Conduct tax research and analysis to support business decisions and strategic initiatives
• Tax function optimization
  • Implement and Utilize tax technology tools to streamline tax processes and improve efficiency
  • Provide training and support to team members on tax-related matters and technology tools
• Continuous Improvement
  • Lead and drive continuous process improvement within the North American team to mitigate process risk and increase transparency of calculations and outcomes
  • Stay updated on Sales and Use tax regulations and implement necessary changes in processes and technology tools to maintain compliance

ABOUT YOU

·Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

·CPA or equivalent qualification or equivalent experience standard required

·Minimum 10 years experience in public accounting or large corporate tax team, including Sales/Use compliance and reporting

·Demonstrated strong commercial, tax technical and financial accounting experience

·Expertise with ERP systems (preferably SAP)

·Use of tax technology systems (implementation experience a plus)

·Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

·Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
