Estate & Special Needs Planning Associate Attorney

Location: In-Office (Arizona)

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (with some flexibility)

Salary: Starting at $110,000 base pay, depending on experience

We're seeking an Estate & Special Needs Planning Associate Attorney to join our growing firm. This is an opportunity to practice in one of the most meaningful areas of law: helping families protect their loved ones and plan for the future with confidence.

Key Responsibilities

• Client Counseling & Education: Lead in-depth design meetings that uncover each individual’s and family's real dynamics and goals, then translate complex options into clear, compassionate guidance clients can act on with confidence.
• Document Drafting, Review & Editing: Draft, review, and refine estate planning documents including powers of attorney, healthcare directives, wills, trusts, and special needs trusts, ensuring every document is accurate and tailored to the client's plan.
• Consultation and Planning: Meet with clients before signing to confirm they fully understand their customized plan, answering questions and addressing concerns so they leave feeling confident, not confused.
• Collaboration: Work seamlessly as a peer alongside a highly experienced support team of paralegals and legal assistants.
• Case & File Management: Own your caseload from design meeting through signing, tracking file status, following up on stalled matters, and directing paralegal support on drafts and next steps to keep every file moving.
• Special Needs Practice Growth: Build real expertise in special needs planning, including first-party special needs trusts, third-party special needs trusts, and government benefits planning (SSI, Medicaid), with hands-on mentorship as you grow into this specialty.
• Trust & Probate Administration Support: As you grow in the role, or depending on your experience, take on trust administration and probate matters alongside our estate planning caseload.

Qualifications & Candidate Profile

• Active Arizona law license in good standing.
• Experience in estate planning or probate law is required. Experience with special needs planning is a plus, but not required—we will heavily train the right person.
• Exceptional patience, empathy, and verbal communication skills. The ideal candidate must be able to translate complex statutes into clear, compassionate guidance at the client's level.
• A reliable, high-confidence "technician" with the drive to self-initiate and continuously learn.
• A genuine passion and strong "why" for serving individuals and families through difficult situations and conversations.
