Compensation: $160,000–$200,000 annually ($72–$96/hour), commensurate with experience and educational background
Benefits: 2 weeks paid time off, 3–5 paid sick days, and health insurance
Schedule: 40 hours per week
Monday–Friday: 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM
One Weekend Day: Approximately 10 hours of structured enrichment programming

The Opportunity

A private, education-focused family in Paradise Valley, Arizona is seeking an exceptional, career Governess to join their fully staffed household. This is a rare opportunity for a highly accomplished educator to play a transformative, long-term role in the lives of two bright children, ages 6 and 7.

The family deeply values intellectual rigor, discipline, curiosity, and character development. They are seeking a Governess who can cultivate academic excellence while instilling grit, independence, respect, leadership, and refined social skills.

This is a fully staffed home with a cook and nanny already in place. The Governess role is strictly focused on the children’s intellectual, personal, and extracurricular development - no household management or cleaning responsibilities.

The family prefers a live-in candidate who is open to a long-term commitment, ideally remaining with the children through their transition to boarding school or college. A live-out arrangement will be considered for the right candidate.

Core Responsibilities

• Pick up children from school and guide a structured transition into afternoon programming
• Design, implement, and continuously refine a rigorous after-school curriculum
• Develop customized academic and enrichment plans aligned with each child’s strengths
• Establish measurable goals and track progress with structured benchmarks
• Foster excellence in advanced academics (math, science, literacy, analytical reasoning), leadership and executive functioning skills, business and financial literacy, practical life skills, creative arts and intellectual exploration, and physical development and athletics
• Coordinate tutors, coaches, and enrichment instructors
• Maintain high expectations for effort, discipline, and results
• Model polished communication, manners, and social confidence, including participation in family dinners
• Lead structured weekend educational programming
• Collaborate seamlessly with household staff while maintaining professional boundaries

Ideal CandidatE:

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree strongly preferred
• Prior Governess experience in education-driven, high-expectation households
• Demonstrated ability to design structured programs with clear outcomes
• Highly intelligent, organized, and forward-thinking
• Warm yet firm — able to hold children to elevated standards while remaining motivating and supportive
• Emotionally intelligent, discreet, and adaptable
• Seeking a long-term placement with stability and vision
