Job Title: Estimator – Commercial Gates, Doors & Access ControlJob Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Estimator specializing in commercial gate systems, commercial doors, and access control solutions . This role is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for service, repair, retrofit, and new construction projects. The Estimator will collaborate closely with sales, operations, project managers, and vendors to ensure pricing accuracy, profitability, and timely proposal delivery.
Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare detailed cost estimates for commercial gates, overhead/rolling doors, barrier arms, access control, and operator systems
Review project plans, specifications, site conditions, and scope of work to develop accurate proposals
Conduct site visits as needed to assess existing conditions and verify measurements
Estimate labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor costs, permits, and timelines
Source and price materials from manufacturers and vendors
Develop written proposals, bids, and change orders in alignment with company standards
Support sales and operations teams with technical input and value-engineering options
Track bid statuses and follow up on submitted proposals
Maintain estimating databases, pricing models, and historical job cost data
Ensure estimates comply with applicable codes, safety standards, and customer requirements
2+ years of estimating experience in commercial gates, doors, access control, or related construction trades
Strong understanding of:
Gate operators and automated gate systems
Commercial door types (overhead, rolling steel, sectional, high-speed, etc.)
Access control systems (card readers, keypads, intercoms, CCTV integration)
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications
Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Proficiency in estimating software, spreadsheets, and CRM systems
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Highly organized with strong attention to detail
Experience estimating service, repair, retrofit, and new construction projects
Knowledge of electrical and low-voltage systems related to access control
Familiarity with local building codes and safety regulations
Background working with general contractors, property managers, and end users
