Position Summary

FMJ Electric LLC is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Electrical Estimator to join our team. The Electrical Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial, industrial, and residential electrical projects. This position works closely with project managers, vendors, suppliers, and customers to evaluate project requirements, develop proposals, and help secure new business opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

• Review project plans, specifications, and bid documents.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and material takeoffs from construction drawings.
• Prepare accurate labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor cost estimates.
• Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations.
• Develop complete bid proposals and pricing packages.
• Maintain estimating spreadsheets, databases, and historical cost information.
• Coordinate with project managers to ensure smooth project handoff after award.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits when required.
• Identify project risks, exclusions, and value engineering opportunities.
• Communicate with customers, general contractors, and suppliers regarding project scope and clarifications.
• Track bid deadlines and ensure proposals are submitted on time.
• Assist with change order pricing and additional cost estimates as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience in electrical estimating, electrical construction, or a related field preferred.
• Knowledge of commercial, industrial, and residential electrical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical plans, specifications, and blueprints.
• Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Experience with estimating software is preferred.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with team members.
• Valid driver's license preferred.

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC).
• Knowledge of construction scheduling and project management principles.
• Experience preparing detailed bid proposals and project budgets.
• Strong negotiation and vendor relationship skills.
• Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer.
• Occasional travel to job sites for project walks and pre-bid meetings.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
