Job Title: Warehouse Manager

Job Overview:

The Warehouse Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the daily operations of the warehouse. This includes ensuring the efficient and effective receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods. The role involves supervising warehouse staff, managing inventory, implementing safety protocols, and ensuring the optimization of warehouse processes to meet operational objectives. The Warehouse Manager plays a critical role in the supply chain process and works closely with other departments such as procurement, logistics, and sales.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Warehouse Operations Management
  • Oversee daily operations of the warehouse to ensure smooth and efficient activities.
  • Supervise the receiving, storing, picking, packing, and shipping of products.
  • Monitor the flow of goods through the warehouse, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries.
  • Optimize warehouse layout and organization for space utilization and operational efficiency.
  1. Staff Supervision and Development
  • Lead, train, and motivate warehouse staff to ensure high levels of productivity and accuracy.
  • Schedule shifts, allocate tasks, and ensure adequate staffing levels to meet operational demands.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching and development opportunities for team members.
  • Enforce company policies, safety regulations, and best practices among the warehouse team.
  1. Inventory Management
  • Maintain accurate inventory records using warehouse management systems (WMS) or other tracking tools.
  • Monitor stock levels and reorder goods as necessary to maintain optimal inventory levels.
  • Perform regular stock counts and cycle counts to ensure accuracy and minimize discrepancies.
  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies or damages.
  1. Health, Safety, and Compliance
  • Ensure that the warehouse complies with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Regularly inspect warehouse equipment and facilities for safety hazards.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols, such as the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Train staff on proper safety procedures, emergency protocols, and equipment handling.
  1. Quality Control
  • Ensure that products are inspected for quality upon receipt and before shipment.
  • Address any issues related to damaged or defective goods.
  • Implement and maintain quality control procedures to minimize errors or returns.
  1. Process Improvement
  • Identify areas for process improvement to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve workflow.
  • Develop and implement best practices for inventory management, order fulfillment, and logistics.
  • Use data and performance metrics to analyze warehouse operations and optimize productivity.
  1. Equipment and Maintenance Management
  • Manage the maintenance and repair of warehouse equipment, including forklifts, conveyor belts, and shelving units.
  • Ensure all warehouse tools and machinery are properly maintained to avoid operational disruptions.
  • Coordinate with external vendors for major repairs or equipment replacement.
  1. Coordination with Other Departments
  • Collaborate with the procurement, sales, and logistics departments to ensure seamless order processing and delivery.
  • Coordinate the timely receipt of incoming shipments and prepare orders for dispatch.
  • Liaise with transportation providers to ensure on-time delivery to customers or distribution points.
  1. Reporting and Documentation
  • Prepare and maintain accurate reports on warehouse operations, including inventory levels, order fulfillment rates, and operational costs.
  • Provide regular updates to senior management on warehouse performance, goals, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Ensure proper documentation of all warehouse transactions, including receipts, invoices, and shipment records.
  1. Customer Service
  • Ensure that customer orders are picked, packed, and shipped accurately and on time.
  • Address any customer concerns related to inventory or shipments promptly and professionally.
  • Work to improve the overall customer experience through better warehouse processes.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years in warehouse management, logistics, or supply chain operations.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS), barcode scanners, and inventory software. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
  • Certifications: Forklift operator certification (preferred). OSHA safety certifications or related safety training is a plus.
  • Key Skills:
    • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
    • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
    • Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Data-driven mindset with the ability to analyze operational metrics.

Work Environment:

The Warehouse Manager will work in a fast-paced, physical environment with frequent lifting and movement of materials. The position may require occasional overtime, especially during peak periods or to meet tight deadlines.
