Madden Industrial Craftsmen is seeking an experienced Industrial Painter & Sandblaster to join our client’s team in Phoenix, AZ . This role combines surface preparation through sandblasting with industrial coating application. The ideal candidate takes pride in clean, inspection-ready work, follows safety standards without shortcuts, and delivers quality finishes with minimal rework.

Pay: $25–$30/hr DOE
Schedule: Monday–Friday, Day Shift (5:00am–1:30pm )

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare surfaces using proper blasting standards (SP-1 through SP-15)
  • Operate, maintain, and inspect blast pots, dust collectors, and related equipment
  • Perform routine maintenance and minor troubleshooting on blasting and painting equipment
  • Prepare surfaces by sanding, scraping, caulking, filling, or pressure washing
  • Apply primers, paints, and specialty coatings using brushes, rollers, or spray systems
  • Mix coatings according to data sheets and job specifications
  • Ensure correct wet and dry film thickness (WFT/DFT) on all coating applications
  • Identify and correct coating defects to maintain quality standards
  • Keep blast booths, paint booths, and work areas clean, organized, and inspection-ready
  • Track piece counts, materials used, and time spent per job accurately
  • Communicate clearly with supervisors and team members to stay on schedule
  • Follow all PPE, safety, and environmental protocols and report hazards immediately
  • Support continuous improvement efforts related to efficiency, safety, and quality

What You Bring

  • Hands-on experience in industrial sandblasting and/or industrial painting
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to maintain and troubleshoot equipment
  • Skilled with blasting tools, air systems, and coating application equipment
  • Knowledge of surface prep and coating application best practices
  • Detail-oriented work habits with a strong focus on quality and cleanliness
  • Comfort working around heavy equipment, dust, fumes, and noise
  • Ability to work safely in physically demanding industrial environments
  • Must provide own basic hand tools (wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, scraper, etc.)
  • Must be 18+ years of age and able to pass pre-employment screening

Maybe You Have

  • Experience with industrial coatings, primers, epoxies, or specialty finishes
  • Familiarity with SSPC standards or similar surface prep and coating codes
  • Knowledge of Air Quality Department inspection requirements
  • Experience maintaining spray systems or plural component equipment
  • A mindset for improving prep, cleanup, and production efficiency

Work Environment
This role is based in an industrial blasting and coatings facility in Phoenix, AZ. Work includes exposure to dust, paint fumes, solvents, noise, and heavy equipment. PPE is required at all times, and maintaining inspection-ready work areas is essential.
