Physician (Primary Care) Flagstaff - AZ CBOC PCS EDRP (Flagstaff)

Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Applicants must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit their EDRP application within four months of appointment. The program approval, including award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years), is determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services after review of the application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.

Qualifications

To qualify, applicants must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Pending completion of training or licensing requirements, candidates may be tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. VA-employed physicians who met the qualification standards at initial appointment are deemed to meet the basic requirements.

Basic Requirements include:

• U.S. citizenship, with non-citizens only when recruitment of qualified citizens is not possible
• Doctor of medicine or equivalent degree from an approved school
• Current unrestricted medical or surgical license in the U.S.
• Completion of residency training approved by the VA or equivalent
• For residents, appointment as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs), who must be fully licensed and work only on an intermittent or fee basis
• Proficiency in spoken and written English
• Physical requirements: visual acuity, hearing, speech, manual dexterity, and ability to perform physical tasks

Duties

• Serve as a Primary Care Provider in the VA Northern Arizona VAMC and associated clinics
• Provide comprehensive medical care, including assessments, management of acute and chronic conditions, and health education
• Participate in team-based care, quality improvement, and patient safety initiatives
• Utilize electronic health records and other tools to deliver efficient care
• Work schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
