We're seeking a Sr. Technical Project Manager who is passionate about improving educational outcomes at scale, and who loves working on complex, innovative, high-visibility projects that push the status quo. This individual will work across multiple data projects that are making innovative strides toward developing the foundational infrastructure and protocols that connect a wide range of student and course data to researchers across and beyond ASU. The right candidate will have a deep understanding of technical requirements, iterative development cycles, and data pipelines and workflows. They will be a strong communicator - able to clearly articulate the next steps and push the project forward through an interactive, iterative approach. The responsibilities are broad in scope, encompassing a wide variety of activities requiring shifts in priorities. This candidate will take initiative, demonstrate a sense of urgency, have strong organizational skills, and follow through on commitments to achieve high-quality, repeatable results. Essential Duties

  • Plans organize, direct, and supervise overall management of complex technology-based projects to ensure thorough articulation of project scope and control of expectations, deliverables, outcomes, issues, needs, and constraints involved to achieve optimal stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across project workstreams to align scope, deliverables, tasks, timelines, and metrics.
  • Responsible for moving forward all technology-related deliverables. Leverages technical and project management expertise to contribute to concept development and execution; works collaboratively with stakeholders, leadership, and other related staff to define and identify all required project scope.
  • Work with data engineers and analysts to design and implement data pipelines for collecting, cleaning, and storing data.
  • Oversee data collection, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and security. Identify potential risks related to data quality, availability, or security.
  • Oversee the creation of data visualizations and dashboards for presenting insights.
  • Execute the tasks necessary to achieve project objectives. This includes but is not limited to: creating workflow diagrams, maintaining process documents, developing thoughtful tracking systems and forms to expedite project work, facilitating design session activities to analyze and remove blockers, organizing and facilitating discussions with legal counsel to ensure compliance at all levels, coordinating communication with external stakeholders, drafting project-related documents, developing presentation materials to convey project updates and goals, maintaining voice, tone, and branding throughout all communications and materials, and coordinating special events related to project objectives.
  • Leverage knowledge of how data flows through data warehouses/lakes and applications (particularly in a Cloud environment) to successfully navigate and understand critical contributing data elements.
  • Facilitate communication with leadership and other key strategy stakeholders, including regular reports and strategy progress meetings.
  • Communicate proactively with all involved personnel to provide encouragement, identify problems, create solutions, and implement efficiency improvements.
  • Manage multiple projects confidently yet carefully with incomplete information; brings structure where there is ambiguity.
  • Hold regular workstream meetings to determine progress and address any questions or challenges regarding projects. Documents and follows up on important actions and decisions from meetings.
  • Prepare and maintain all project status reports and schedules; tracks deliverables, and dependencies; sets and re-sets expectations as needed in consideration of project progress/outcomes; responds to all inquiries regarding project status
  • Communicate clearly and concisely while running meetings or delivering presentations and written communications.
  • Assumes or coordinates other duties or projects as assigned or directed.

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Technology or related field AND eight (8) years experience providing information technology services, which includes three (3) years as Project Manager and/or Project Lead experience; OR,Twelve (12) years experience providing information technology services, which includes three (3) years as Project Manager and/or Project Lead experience; OR Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. Certificates from recognized programs that indicate mastery of tools and techniques relevant to the assignment may substitute for up to six months of experience. Desired Qualifications

  • A strong understanding of technical infrastructures and bottlenecks (ability to dive into various tech platforms to review data, make recommendations, and advise on achieving our goals). This may include prior experience as a Business Analyst, Data Analyst, or other similar roles.
  • At least 5 years of experience managing technical projects (implementing new technologies, integrating technologies, or data and reporting projects), preferably with Agile methodologies and tools (such as Jira).
  • A high-level understanding of how data flows through data warehouses/lakes and applications, particularly in a Cloud environment (e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Scrum Master, Scrum Product Owner, or PMP certification.
  • Experience working with multiple academic and enterprise units, and possesses general knowledge of higher education learning and practices.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of project management software, methodologies, and change management practices.
  • Evidence of a bachelor's degree or higher in a related field.

EdPlus at ASU is located at SkySong, the ASU Scottsdale Innovation Center. The center houses a diverse business community that links technology, research, education, and entrepreneurship to position ASU and Greater Phoenix as global leaders in the knowledge economy. Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate-controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting or standing. Daily use of desktop or laptop computer is required.
