Position Overview

Join a collaborative Grocery & Markets Studio that’s shaping how people shop, gather, and connect in their communities. We’re seeking a Job Captain with strong technical skills and attention to detail to lead the contract documentation process and help deliver exceptional retail environments.

This is more than drafting. You’ll own project documentation, collaborate with top-tier designers and project managers, and help transform ideas into beautiful, functional, and code-compliant spaces .

Key Responsibilities

• Lead production of contract documents for grocery and market projects.
• Navigate permitting and AHJ approvals efficiently, ensuring smooth approvals.
• Coordinate closely with project managers, consultants, and internal design teams to translate design intent into construction-ready drawings.
• Support adaptive reuse and new construction documentation.
• Ensure accuracy, detailing quality, and compliance with applicable codes and standards.
• Collaborate effectively across teams to maintain timelines and client expectations.

Required Qualifications

• Degree in Architecture (preferred, not required if equivalent experience).

• 5+ years of professional architectural experience , ideally within grocery, retail, restaurant, or healthcare environments.

• Proficiency in Revit – hands-on expertise is non-negotiable.

• Solid knowledge of building codes, architectural detailing, and permitting processes .

• Familiarity with construction contract administration .

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

• A proactive mindset , collaborative attitude, and the ability to thrive in a hybrid work environment.

Work Location & Flexibility

• Hybrid role: Primarily based in Phoenix, AZ .

• Occasional in-office collaboration in Long Beach, CA and field trips to Southern California building departments for permitting.
