POSITION

Position Summary

The Associate Construction Manager (CM I) is an emerging field and operations leader responsible for supporting the execution, coordination, and oversight of assigned construction projects. This role serves as the developmental step between Foreman or Senior Project Coordinator and Construction Manager, blending strong field knowledge with growing administrative and leadership responsibilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Field Execution & Oversight

  • Interpret and execute projects in accordance with RFDS, construction drawings (CDs), scopes of work, and customer specifications.
  • Support daily field operations, ensuring crews are properly staffed, equipped, and aligned with project objectives.
  • Conduct regular job site visits to monitor progress, safety compliance, workmanship, and adherence to standards.
  • Identify and proactively address field issues that may impact schedule, cost, safety, or customer satisfaction.
  • Assist in coordinating inspections, material staging, and equipment logistics.

Schedule & Production Management

  • Support the PM in managing project schedules and crew assignments.
  • Monitor daily production against timelines and escalate delays or risks promptly.
  • Assist in tracking milestones and ensuring accurate field reporting.
  • Help enforce accountability for daily progress and deliverables.

Financial Awareness & Job Cost Support

  • Assist in monitoring labor hours, material usage, and subcontractor performance to support project margin protection.
  • Support documentation of change orders and field-driven cost impacts.
  • Review and verify field-related invoices and receipts as needed.
  • Maintain awareness of project budgets and communicate potential overruns.

Documentation & Communication

  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of field documentation, including photos, closeout packages, and required customer reports.
  • Partner with Project Coordinator to confirm all required paperwork is complete and compliant.
  • Maintain clear communication between field crews, PC, PM, customers, and vendors.
  • Provide timely updates to PM on project status, risks, and customer concerns.

Customer Experience Ownership

  • Support and uphold a positive customer experience through professionalism, responsiveness, and quality workmanship.
  • Address customer concerns in the field promptly and escalate appropriately when needed.
  • Represent the company in a professional and solutions-oriented manner on job sites.

Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce company safety standards and ensure crews follow OSHA and company safety guidelines.
  • Support safety meetings, documentation, audits and compliance tracking.
  • Promote a culture of accountability and hazard awareness.
  • All employees must wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Comply with federal, state, and local laws, as well as Company safety policy, enforce safe work practices, and proactively identifies and remedies worksite hazards.

DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This position operates at professional construction sites and in professional office environments, requiring the uses of standard office equipment, the ability to communicate verbally with others on site, in person and over the telephone, ability to read printed materials, signs, computer screens and directions, stamina to maintain attention to details despite interruptions, ability to lift, climb with, push, pull, carry, handle or feel objects, supplies, tools, machinery and/or controls weighing up to 50 pounds and reach with hands and arms; climb stairs, ladders and/or towers; balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift overhead, traverse around sites, in the air, or otherwise position one's self around the required work and safety requirements to navigating and perform activities on various construction sites in a safe manner.
  • Will be required to work on project sites and operate vehicles, trailers, machinery, equipment, and other tools within local, state, and federal safety guidelines.
  • Will be required to work outside, frequently for extended periods of time in all weather, including extreme hot and cold temperatures.
  • While working, the employee might be exposed to various chemicals, vapors, pollutants, virus or other air-borne pathogens, gases, uneven surfaces, loud noises, moving vehicles or machines and dust/debris.

Supervisory Responsibilities

While all Foremen and crews report directly to the Project Manager, the Associate CM provides indirect field leadership and operational oversight by:

  • Supporting supervision of Foremen and field crews.
  • Reinforcing accountability for productivity, safety, and workmanship.
  • Assisting in coaching and mentoring field leaders.
  • Escalating performance concerns to the PM.
  • Supporting onboarding and field training of new employees.
  • Modeling leadership standards aligned with company culture and expectations.

EXPECTED POSITION HOURS

  • This is a full-time position. Overtime may be required as job duties demand, and with prior approval.
  • Must be able to work weekends, overnight, out of the market or away from home and willingness to travel overnight as work demands.

Education

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and industry experience may be considered.

Experience

  • Minimum 3–5 years of progressive experience in construction, telecommunications, or related field environment.
  • Prior experience as a Foreman, Lead Technician, Senior Project Coordinator with field exposure, or similar role preferred.
  • Experience interpreting construction drawings and technical specifications required.
  • Exposure to project scheduling, crew coordination, and field documentation processes.
  • Experience working in project-based environments with customer interaction.

Certifications, Licenses, and other Requirements

  • Minimum age of 21 years old.
  • Mandatory possession of a current valid Driver’s License; CDL is advantageous.
  • Clear Motor Vehicle Record (MVR). Ability to be covered by company auto Insurance.
  • Successful completion and clearance of a pre-employment drug screen, DOT physical, and background check.
