Procurement Project Manager (Steel Focus)

The Procurement Project Manager, also known as Procurement III, will play a pivotal role in managing procurement activities for complex construction projects. The successful candidate will possess strong project management skills, exceptional negotiation abilities, and a deep understanding of procurement processes within the steel industry. Your expertise in sourcing, negotiating, and managing suppliers will directly impact our project timelines, costs, and overall success. Key Responsibilities: 1. Project Procurement Management: - Lead procurement efforts for assigned construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely acquisition of materials and services while adhering to project specifications, budgets, and timelines.
2. Vendor Management: - Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with suppliers and subcontractors, negotiating favorable terms and conditions to optimize pricing, quality, and delivery schedules.
3. Strategic Sourcing: - Develop and implement strategic sourcing strategies to support project objectives, including identifying new suppliers, conducting market research, and fostering strategic partnerships.
4. Contract Administration: - Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and purchase agreements, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, as well as company policies and procedures.
5. Cost Management: - Monitor procurement costs, identify cost-saving opportunities, and develop strategies to mitigate price fluctuations and budget overruns.
6. Risk Management: - Assess and mitigate procurement-related risks, proactively identifying potential issues and implementing contingency plans to minimize project disruptions.
7. Collaboration: - Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements, anticipate procurement needs, and align procurement strategies with overall project objectives.
8. Documentation and Reporting: - Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, including purchase orders, contracts, correspondence, and vendor performance evaluations. Prepare regular reports and updates for management and project teams.
9. Continuous Improvement: - Identify opportunities for process improvement within the procurement function, implementing best practices, tools, and technologies to streamline processes, enhance efficiency, and drive cost savings.
10. Compliance: - Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards governing procurement activities, including environmental regulations, labor laws, and safety requirements.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related field. Master's degree or professional certifications (e.g., CPSM, CSCP) preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in procurement, supply chain management, or related field, with at least 2 years of experience in a project management role within the construction or steel industry.
- Proven track record of successfully managing procurement activities for large-scale construction projects, including sourcing, negotiating contracts, and managing supplier relationships.
- Strong understanding of procurement processes, contract management principles, and legal frameworks governing procurement activities.
- Travel as required.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in procurement software, enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, with a focus on driving results, fostering teamwork, and promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
