Work Environment
The Statutory Staff Accountant is a hybrid eligible role, in our Reno, NV, Phoenix, AZ, or Roseville, CA locations.
Job Overview
This role offers the opportunity for the individual to grow and develop within the Finance department. Heavy participation related to Statutory accounting related to the monthly close process. This individual will have a high level of interaction with other members of the finance team to assist in the production and analysis of the monthly financial statements.
The ideal candidate will have strong written and oral communication skills, an analytical mindset, strong Excel skills and the ability to be flexible and multi-task to effectively manage their time across various roles and responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Ultimately seeking a Go -To individual contributor who plays an integral role in the monthly close process
- Prepare monthly production journal entries related to premium, losses and loss adjustment expenses.
- Manage and analyze various key I.T. related operating expenses as part of the monthly close process.
- Perform account reconciliations of key balance sheet-related accounts.
- Assist in all aspects of the preparation of five state and four company premium tax filings.
- Assist with the interim and annual audits to ensure internal controls operate effectively and account balances are properly stated.
- Prepare internal and external audit inquiries as needed.
- Ad hoc analysis of fluctuation of key operating expense categories/balances to support monthly close process.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a Business discipline.
- 2 – 5 years of accounting or finance experience.
- PC literate with a firm understanding of Microsoft Office Programs.
- Property and Casualty insurance experience a plus. Basic understanding of the key concepts and terminology utilized within Property and Casualty of insurance accounting.
- Exceptional work ethic, integrity, and ability to work autonomously while effectively managing expectations.
- Strong interpersonal skills – need to effectively communicate with customers inside and outside of the organization.
- Inclination to adapt to new circumstances, information and challenges and do so with a positive “can do” attitude.
- Must be able to handle multiple projects and adjust to shifting priorities.
- Detail oriented with strong mathematical and organizational skills.
- A valid driver’s license may be required.

Salary Range: $63,729-105,153
The salary range listed here has been provided to comply with local regulations and represents a potential base salary range for this role. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range above or below, depending on experience and location. We look at compensation for each individual and base our offer on your unique qualifications, experience, and expected contributions. This position may also be eligible for other types of compensation in addition to base salary, such as benefits and bonus programs.
