Summary:

We are looking for a friendly and efficient Food Truck Cashier to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys interacting with people and has excellent customer service skills. As a Food Truck Cashier, you will be responsible for taking orders, handling transactions, and ensuring a positive experience for our customers. You will work closely with the Food Truck Cook and Line Cook to deliver delicious food and outstanding service.

Responsibilities:

Customer Service:

  • Greet customers warmly and assist them in placing their orders.
  • Answer customer inquiries regarding the menu, ingredients, and preparation methods.
  • Handle customer complaints or issues in a professional and courteous manner.

Order Taking:

  • Accurately take customer orders and relay them to the kitchen staff.
  • Ensure that all special requests and dietary restrictions are communicated to the cooking team.
  • Monitor order status and provide customers with updates as needed.

Cash Handling:

  • Process customer payments accurately and efficiently, including cash, credit, and debit transactions.
  • Provide customers with accurate change and receipts.
  • Maintain a balanced cash drawer and report any discrepancies to the supervisor.

Operational Support:

  • Assist with setting up and stocking the cashier station with necessary supplies before service.
  • Keep the cashier area clean and organized, including sanitizing surfaces regularly.
  • Help with food preparation and assembly during peak times if needed.

Event Assistance:

  • Assist in the setup and breakdown of the food truck for events, including loading and unloading supplies.
  • Adapt to varying event environments and manage customer flow effectively to ensure timely service.
  • Collaborate with the food truck team and event staff to ensure smooth operations and a successful event experience.

Working Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work will primarily be performed in an outdoor environment or within the Rawhide Food Truck.

Food Truck Operations:

  • Work in a confined space that requires efficient movement and multitasking.
  • Operate in various weather conditions, including extreme heat or cold, as the food truck is mobile and often serves outdoor events.
  • Handle a fast-paced and sometimes high-pressure environment, particularly during peak service times.
  • Work will be performed both inside and outside on a regular basis, in most weather conditions.

Event Assistance:

  • Travel to different locations as needed for events, which may include weekends and evenings.
  • Adapt to different event settings, from intimate gatherings to large festivals, requiring flexibility and a positive attitude.
  • Work collaboratively with event staff and other vendors to ensure a cohesive and successful event experience.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to moderately high.
  • Evening, weekend, and holiday shifts are required as a normal part of this position.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and walk extended period. The employee occasionally is required to bend, climb, stoop, lift, carry, push, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move 15 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • One (1) year previous experience as a cashier or customer service role within the food service environment or related field.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required for client meetings and events.
  • A satisfactory result obtained through a test for illegal drugs.
  • Acknowledge and agree to maintain a drug-free workplace.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Basic math skills and experience with cash handling and point-of-sale (POS) systems.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices is a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience working with Gila River Indian Community or other Native American Communities.
