TITLE: NIGHT CUSTODIAL SUPERVISOR

CONTRACT TERMS: 12-months

SALARY CLASSIFICATION: Support Staff Salary Schedule, Grade G

* $20.36

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under general direction, supervises the night custodial staff (i.e. planning, scheduling, coordinating activities, training, discipline, evaluation) for the purpose of ensuring the site functions in a safe and efficient manner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Creates a work-flow schedule;
  • Directs and oversees work activities and adjusts work schedules to ensure that assignments are completed in a safe, proper and timely manner;
  • Maintains supply levels and inspects equipment for proper working condition;
  • Makes available to custodial staff, as needed, the training, tools and equipment necessary for job performance;
  • Conducts monthly safety/training meetings for custodial staff;
  • Coordinates nightly lockdown of the schools;
  • Provides support to the Director of Maintenance for the purpose of meeting departmental goals and objectives;
  • Recommends policies, procedures, and/or action required for the purpose of meeting district/departmental goals and objectives;
  • Acts as a liaison between Principals and the Director of Maintenance;
  • Cleans specialized areas, as assigned;
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

A. REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent;
  • Five years of experience in a related field;
  • Some supervisory experience required;
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in English, both orally and in writing, with individuals in a face-to-face, one-on-one or group setting and/or by telephone;
  • Bilingual (Spanish) skills required;
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver's license;
  • Must possess knowledge of MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets);
  • Must possess knowledge of practices essential to the cleaning of buildings, including, but not limited to: use and care of wet and dry vacuum cleaners, floor buffing machines, mop wringers, mops, brushes, soaps, floor stripping materials, cleaning fluids, floor waxes and other materials and equipment related to the custodial care of buildings.
  • Must possess knowledge of hazards and safety methods related to custodial operations.

B. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs., without assistance, and over long and short distances;
  • Must be able to walk long distances and remain in a standing position for extended periods;
  • Must be able to climb multi-level stairwells.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

A. TIME MANAGEMENT: Plans two weeks to twelve months in advance;

B. STRESS MANAGEMENT: Periodic stress due to intermittent deadlines;

C. PUBLIC CONTACT: Interacts with other employees and the general public. Must be able to work safely without compromising safety for self or others;

D. LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY: Must use sound judgment in performing job and must direct activities of a group of employees or have responsibility for valuable equipment or confidential records;

EVALUATION PROCEDURE: In accordance with provisions specified in Governing Board policy;

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Director of Maintenance;

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Oversees and coordinates the work of the night custodial staff.
