Shift Type: Night shifts, 12-hour nights (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM); schedule includes every-other-weekend coverage and holiday rotation; guaranteed 36 hours/week (12-hour night schedule, unit coverage dependent)

Candidate Pay Rate: $61 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess, monitor and care for high-acuity medical telemetry patients using clinical judgment and compassion
• Interpret telemetry and 12-lead EKG rhythms and respond appropriately to changes
• Perform competent IV skills and collaborate with the IV SWAT RN for difficult access
• Maintain sterile technique and perform Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes when competent
• Use Cerner EMR to accurately document assessments, interventions and patient progress
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including RT and pharmacy for 24/7 patient needs
• Serve as part of a patient-centered team to manage admissions, discharges and high turnover
• Participate in required SIMs Lab, lifts, restraints and wound care education and demonstrate competency

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (eligible to submit for AZ licensure; license to submit acceptable)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (as listed in job details)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Strong telemetry experience with reliable EKG interpretation skills
• Proven IV experience is a must
• Comfortable working 1:4 ratios and caring for high-acuity patients
• Familiarity with Cerner or similar EMR systems
• Willingness to complete and pass DYS exam prior to accepting assignment and pass SIMs Lab on day 1 of orientation
• Travelers: must have own vehicle and meet appearance/fit-test requirements (natural hair color, no facial piercings, men clean-shaven for fit test)

Education

• Active RN licensure required
• BSN not required (associate or diploma acceptable)

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry nursing and continuous cardiac monitoring
• EKG rhythm recognition and clinical response
• IV starts, maintenance and troubleshooting
• Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing care with sterile technique
• Experience with Cerner electronic medical records
• High-acuity medical-surgical nursing, including care for ESRD, post-op transplant patients, DKA and respiratory support (BiPAP/CPAP familiarity)
• Patient lifts, restraints and wound care principles
• Clear communication and teamwork in a fast-paced acute care setting
