Vaco has partnered with a mission-driven nonprofit seeking a Controller to oversee all accounting operations and financial reporting. This role will manage the month-end close, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow projections, and board-level financial reporting while ensuring compliance with grants, government reimbursements, and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate has prior experience as a Controller, strong leadership skills, and advanced knowledge of QuickBooks Online and Excel. Nonprofit experience and a CPA are preferred.

Responsibilities include:
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and board reports with analysis and insights
  • Oversee accounting operations, including AP, AR, payroll, reconciliations, consolidations, grants, and revenue recognition
  • Manage cash flow forecasting, banking relationships, and compliance with government contracts and grant requirements
  • Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff while maintaining strong internal controls and policies
  • Coordinate external audits, tax filings, and reporting to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance
Requirements:
  • 5 years of accounting leadership experience
  • Grant management experience required
  • CPA preferred

With that said, as required by local law in geographies that require salary range disclosure, Vaco/Highspring notes the salary range for the role is noted in this job posting. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and can participate in medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as the company’s 401(k) retirement plan.
