Industrial Charger & BESS Engineer

While the company often lists this under the title EV Charger Systems Engineer , their focus on industrial applications (airports, logistics, and BESS-integrated microgrids) means the role heavily involves the coordination of energy storage and fast-charging infrastructure.

Role Overview:

As a Systems Engineer, you are responsible for the end-to-end technical design, integration, and performance of Minit Charger’s infrastructure. You will manage the entire lifecycle of a project—from translating market requirements into technical specifications to overseeing the safe connection of high-power chargers and BESS to the local utility grid.

Key Responsibilities:

• System Architecture & Design: Develop detailed system architectures for DC Fast Charging (DCFC) and BESS-coupled systems, ensuring optimal power flow and thermal management.
• Component Selection: Evaluate and specify critical components, including power electronics (SiC-based), transformers, battery modules, and circuit protection.
• Standards & Compliance: Ensure all designs meet UL , IEC , NEC/NFPA 70 , and ISO 15118 standards. Lead functional safety efforts (DFMEA, FTA) for charging and storage systems.
• Software/Hardware Integration: Act as the primary interface between hardware, firmware, and the AssetPro 360 cloud platform to ensure seamless communication (via OCPP, Modbus, or CAN).
• Validation & Testing: Execute Design Verification Plans (DVP&R) using Hardware-in-the-Loop ( HIL ) and Software-in-the-Loop ( SIL ) testing methodologies.
• Grid Integration: Coordinate with utility companies to manage load calculations, power flow analysis, and interconnection requirements for large-scale deployment.

Required Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• Experience: 3-5+ years in system-level design for power electronics, EVSE, or energy storage systems.
• Technical Knowledge: * Deep understanding of high-voltage DC/DC and AC/DC power conversion .
• Familiarity with battery management systems (BMS) and BESS integration.
• Proficiency in simulation tools like MATLAB/Simulink or PSpice.
• Knowledge of communication protocols (CAN, Modbus, OCPP ).
• Safety: Strong experience with functional safety standards (ISO 26262 or IEC 61508).
