POSITION: Community Trainer
STATUS: ☒ Full Time ☐ Part Time ☐ Exempt ☒ Non-Exempt
Join our dynamic and dedicated team to help provide a safe, compassionate, healing environment for children who have been a victim or witnessed a crime. Our Community Trainer helps uphold our values of Collaboration, Excellence, and Impact by promoting child abuse and prevention messages in the community, providing education and support for partners, educators, and community members while demonstrating a high level of communication, relationship building, and organizational skills.
FUNCTION: Reporting to the Director of Family Support and Prevention, the Community
Trainer is responsible for providing trauma-focused training for professionals and other
community stakeholders who can have a positive impact in preventing and addressing child
abuse. The Community Trainer builds relationships with relevant organizations, including
schools, and provides training and presentations to children and adults. The Community Trainer also facilitates meetings and guides the work of the Regional Child Abuse Prevention Councils for Cochise, Graham, Greenlee, Pima, and Santa Cruz Counties.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Training:
● Provide Mandatory Reporter Training in schools receiving programming and by request
for other schools and community organizations serving children and youth;
● Provide ACEs. Protective Factors, and Trauma-Informed Care trainings to the
community for Caregivers and/or Professionals by request;
● Deliver presentations to adult professionals, parents, and school-aged children, with the
goal of reaching 7,000 children and 1,000 adults per year.
● Enter prevention and training data in secure tracking systems and assist with reporting;
● Ensure surveys are completed and collected from participants to ensure program success;
● Provide materials and resources as requested by partners to support caregivers in
preventing child abuse;
● Present new ideas for maximizing efficiency and effectiveness of prevention programs.
Collaboration:
● Coordinate and support the Regional Child Abuse Prevention Councils for Cochise,
Graham, Greenlee, Pima, and Santa Cruz Counties, collectively named the Southern
Arizona for Youth and Families (SAYF) Council;
● Oversee SAYF outreach events and participate in partner events;
● Represent the organization on relevant community coalitions and committees;
● Build the organization’s presence in the community at relevant events to efficiently reach
all of Southern Arizona.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
● Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent prior experience.
● Three years of experience in training and public speaking.
● Experience with community outreach.
SPECIAL ABILITIES AND KNOWLEDGE:
● Ability to prioritize and meet or beat deadlines.
● Understanding of the model of Advocacy Centers.
● Excellent organization and communication skills with demonstrated ability to write clearly and persuasively.
● Proficiency with office-based software packages, including Google and Microsoft applications.
● Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
● Ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.
● Must be able to pass a fingerprint and criminal background check.
