MBS Design Engineer / PE

This role sits at the crossroads of growth and opportunity! The company is entering its next chapter—expanding beyond its regional roots, increasing design volume, and building the engineering bench that will support the next decade of performance. To keep pace, they’re adding a Design Engineer who understands PEMB not just on paper, but in the real world—how buildings are fabricated, assembled, erected, and inspected.

This is the first foundational hire in an expanded engineering team , and the work you do will influence how every project moves from design through fabrication and into the field.

Key Responsibilities

Instead of functioning as a small cog in a large machine, you’ll be deeply involved in how each building comes to life. You’ll take ownership of PEMB design from the earliest modeling stages through to buildability checks and field coordination.

You’ll work inside MBS daily —running models, catching conflicts before they reach detailing, adjusting datasets, and ensuring the building that arrives in the field matches the one envisioned in design.

You’ll be the engineer people call when something isn’t adding up in the drawings, when permitting needs clarification, or when someone in the field needs real-time support. In many ways, this role bridges design, operations, and customer experience . Your work will directly affect the ease of fabrication, the efficiency of erection, and the confidence of the builders who rely on your decisions.

Required Experience

· The ideal candidate brings a blend of engineering depth and practical field awareness.

· A PE license is required; an SE is welcome but not mandatory.

· Strong PEMB experience is essential—not just designing frames, but understanding how buildings go together under pressure, in real-world conditions, and with the inevitable surprises that arise between the plans and the slab.

· MBS proficiency isn’t optional here; it’s the backbone of the engineering workflow. You should understand how to interpret, modify, and troubleshoot MBS models with confidence, and how to translate that work into smooth handoffs for detailing, fabrication, and erection.

· Success in this role requires someone who communicates clearly with everyone—from field crews to clients to internal leadership—and who brings both detail orientation and creative problem-solving when timelines tighten or conditions shift.

Nice to Have

If you’ve worked with seismic design, supported permitting, or used tools like Bluebeam for collaborative review, you’ll be well-positioned to contribute as the company expands into new regions. Experience mentoring others or helping develop engineering processes is valuable, especially as the team grows.

Work Setup & Compensation
